Currently printing on a P1S with a glass bed. I print exclusively in PETG. Following yesterday’s Firmware Update (08/08/2023, 1.4.00.00) the auto bed leveling routine only probes 5 locations (4 corners, 1 middle). It used to be that before every print, ABL would prove 16 locations. Anyone else having this issue?
Not saying this is what is happening, but my P1P with a Lightyear g10 plate only probes the full 16 points the first time. After that, it does the 5 every print after. My guess it it’s saves a version of the mesh and then does the 5 probes to see if anything has changed since the last mesh was saved.
When you submitted the print job did you check the box for bed leveling? If you did not, then that is what will happen.
BTW, you do not need to level the bed before every print. If you have not powered off the printer and you have not changed the build surface, then the matrix will be the same. Some say that you should relevel if you remove the build plate, but I have not seen any issues from skipping the reveling until I change to a different plate.
It’s an optimization. If the printer detects that the 5 points are similar to last full mesh results, it will skip a full bed level.
Thank you all! Makes sense and does help to speed up the pre-print routine.
