Hi everyone, I’ve been printing the same parts in small batches for two months now. However, my P1S has suddenly been having problems for the past two weeks. Sometimes the prints don’t stick together, or they stick too tightly, small holes appear in the print, or it’s extremely stringy. I haven’t changed any of the slicer settings. So far, I’ve cleaned the print bed (Smooth PEI Bamboo Plate) several times and calibrated it via the printer. I’ve performed a few cold pulls on the extruder until it was completely clean, and I’ve even taken the entire extruder apart to see if there’s a problem.
The filament actually comes sealed out of the package and goes straight into the printer. To compensate for this, I’ve increased the flow in the slicer, which makes the holes a bit better. However, I feel like the problem is getting worse, and I’m slowly running out of ideas about what else I can do or what the cause is.
Did you try drying the filament?
It’s PLA, so in theory it shouldn’t be necessary, but yes I’ve tried it too.
corner lifting → bed adhesive issue, need new plate or not clean enough, or maybe bed temp is not high enough
What is this waviness here, does it protrude out due to excessive of plastic?
And what do you mean by
Like, fine tune the flow, fine tune the pressure advance, or just run calibrate function from the little screen of the printer.
Since you said that it needs a new plate, do you or does anyone here know of a smooth plate? If so, how long does it last?
The waves do not protrude, but rather there is a lack of filament and grooves are created.
Just calibrate the function. Strangely, I had bad experiences with calibrating the flow on this printer, because even though I always chose the best result from the calibration, the actual prints became worse.
Re: “New plate” – Clean the plate before replacing it. Unless they are getting damaged, those things last a very long time.
Dish soap. hot water. Clean brush [not the same one you use for dishes]. 5 minutes. Dry and do not touch it’s surface with any of your skin.
More extreme resurfacing can be done with steel wool and a careful touch.
I don’t use smooth plate. I print ABS mostly and I don’t use BBL filament nor BBL genuine build plate. Build plate sticker style won’t last much long with ABS. I consider build plate as consumable, and replace it after a few tens of spools.
You may need to check the PTFE tubes, and possibly replace all of them. Worn PTFE tube(s) may cause problem with retraction and thus messing the priming (build up pressure before new loop)
This almost does nothing, mostly fine tune the resonant frequency for input shaper and probe the bed mesh (same as bed leveling before each print).
Okay thanks, I try to replace the PTFE tubes first.
