Hello all,
since few days the wall quality on my P1S is really bad.
I am printing with white PLA.
This problem came all of a sudden - no changes made to printer or slicer settings.
The wall quality is only this bad on one side - The opposing side looks good.
I’ve already tried the following:
- change spool to new spool out of the box (filament is dry)
- replaced the hotend with new one
- different slicer settings: with brim e.g.
- moved the printer on a concrete slab to reduce vibration
- calibration redone
Does anyone have an idea what else could be wrong/checked?
I changed the same filament to my other P1S and the print looks perfect. So I can exclude wet filament.
Why did you do that???
I saw your first post checked a few other topics and wanted to ask if you have some other or dried filament to try…
Ok, new ideas…
Clearly limited to the machine means there has to be a reason on that printer.
Which side is it, as seen from the front of the printer?
Same effect on straight surfaces as on rounded ones?
Seems to originate from the sharp turns in the layers.
Since the pics look so bad, cut a slice out of the model to print just 5 or 6mm of it.
Still the same bad looks means we can move on to see what happens if you press the silent button for the print speed.
If that results in a much better surface I would tend to say something for the affected side is loose or worn out, maybe just a belt/alignment problem.
Thanks so much for your help!
Today I tried different things:
- bad surface quality is mostly in direction to the printer door
- print quality looks perfect on a round cylinder and on a straight surface (see picture)
- it is only problematic with the sharp edges on my original model
- silent mode makes it slightly better
- it does not depend where the object is located on the print plate
Hello, I still have no solution for the wall quality.
Could that be a worn out component or belt problem? Do you know any failure which causes this bad print quality?
My printer has 700 hours of print time.
