P1S TPU Help with Hardened Steel Upgrade

I really can’t say much since I haven’t used that. What I can speculate just by looking at the electronics: it should work.

I guess this pretty much the same as you constantly push the TPU filament manually into the PTFE tube in order to ease the drag for the extruder.

It sounds mundane, but for years that’s been the hidden superpower of every AMS type system’s extrusion quality - a dedicated feed motor so the extruder doesn’t have to bear that force at the pinch point!

where is the external filament slot/hole to use tpu for ams on the p1s?

thx.

There is none.

This is BBL’s suggestion: remove the PTFE tube and feed TPU filament directly to the toolhead.

And this is what people do to print TPU

ok, thank you. somewhere it mentioned, or o thought i saw someone mention the expansion filament hole/entry… maybe a different model.

It makes complete sense indeed. Do you think re-working my top spool mount with bearings could make it avoid this dragging issue even more?

100% Yes.

When pivot point is closer or at the center of mass, it takes less effort just to spin an object as you don’t have to fight with the oldest force on earth, gravity

Absolutely. Bearings cut down drag significantly. I recommend that you spin your bearings (quickly testing them to make sure that they freely/easily/smoothly roll) before installing them - many of the bearings I have purchased (especially cheapies) spin much more freely with a few carefully applied drops of light oil (I have a bottle of “Zero-Friction” oil that I use on bearings).
