I checked and noticed that 2.4 and 5 Ghz were both active on my Unify Access Point, and with the same SSID.
So, I de-activated the 5Ghz, shut off and powered up the P1S again. And the tried to add the [printer again in Bambu Studio, via ‘Bind with Access Code’.
Result
Unfortunately, the same happens again. The printer shows up in the printer list in Bambu Studio, but also disappear after 2 seconds.
Question
Is there any other way, or things I should check?
I disconnected the P1S from WiFi (through the printers menu) > Ejected the SD-card (through the printers menu) > Shut the power of the P1S Off.
I created the user_wifi.cfg file, changed the SSID and password into mine > Copied the file to the root of the SD-card > Put the SD-card back into the P1S > Powered the P1S up again.
Then noticed that ‘LAN only mode’ and ‘Developer mode’ were both OFF > So, I switched them both back on.
Checked in SimplyPrint localhost if the printer came back online > Yes
In Bambu Studio, added the printer via the ‘Bind with Access Code’ procedure > result: the same happens again. The printer shows up in the printer list in Bambu Studio, but also disappeared after 2 seconds.
Question
Any other suggestions?
Is there maybe anything in communication between Bambu Studio and my printers, that could be blocked by my router (firewall)? If so, please tell me the detailed settings needed to be made.
Mine does not need to be bound, it just appears. The thing I did though is not rely on DHCP but assigned a static IP for the printer in my router. Not sure it helps but that how it’s set up.
For me what worked:
P1S and Windows (P1Sstill on older firmware, different router than you)
2.4gHz and 5gHz have different names (e.g. 2.4=ssid 5=ssid5)
P1S on 2.4, PC on 5
Used user_wifi.cfg on card. Switching to LAN mode only on (at printer) was not an option until printer had actually connected to network (took several “boots” of printer)
Once it had connected and switched to LO mode and would display an IP address (not just 0.0.0.0) I set that as a static reservation IP for the printer based on MAC address on the router.
Been working fine for about a year now, even with router/reboots.
I do have to enter access code in BS devices about 3/4 of the time when first starting up but I always remove filament and turn printer off when not in use so I am not surprised and personally doesn’t bother me.
I have seen some references about some people needing to disable IPV 6 support temporarily on PC and/or router to get an initial connection (I have seen this mentioned in relation to cloud printing also) but I did not have to do that.
From what I remember when I was trying to set up and what was in the BL wiki was that it does not seem to work if the printer and the PC are on the same LAN. don’t ask me why. When I was first doing it I had them both on the same LAN (SID) and the printer would connect to the wi-fi but there were issues and the printer/PC wouldn’t really talk to each other.
I am running older firmware and don’t do anything with developer mode, not an option on the printer, just Lan only. If I remeber right Dev mode was added later when they started locking down the network plugin.
What I would try with your set up is if possible, enable 5gHZ, give it a different SSID and put the PC on that. Lan only seems to be a pain to setup for various people and it seems like there is not one cut and dried solution.
Edit, the printer showing up and then disapearing is a little different twist.
Does the printer show an IP address on the printer display, on mine it’s under the LAN Only settings. Once you get that if possible set that as a reservation for the printer on your router (I see that you state you did that, missed it first read thru).
Is your router A or B? Not that it should make a difference, just for info)
A
B

Edit 2 The wiki has been updated since I set my printer up and I can’t find the previous versions.
The onle reference I found in a quick scan to being on the same network doesn’t really say if there is a preference.
Step 2: Bind the printer in LAN mode to Bambu Studio
Open the printer list popup under the Device page and find the printer that has been switched to LAN-only mode.
(The printer in LAN-only mode will have a lock icon in front of its name as shown in the image below)
This can take between 20 seconds to 60 seconds, or even longer in some rare cases.
**If your printer is still not displayed, please check if the Printer and Bambu Studio are on the same local network,** and if communication is not blocked between them. (this can happen on some Guest networks)
Just to clarify, the Developer Mode is being set with the printer’s menus? Not the Develop mode in Studio, which only affects available settings in Studio…
Having exact same issue here, and it only started once the most recent update went out. I had it working fine on 1.09FW and Bambu Studio with LAN/Dev mode enabled on the printer.
Then a Bambu release came out. Now it’s broken. I’m not gonna waste a buncha time troubleshooting. When a full wipe of the app and its data + reinstall doesnt fix it, and other apps DO work…100000% it’s Bambu.
I’d say I’m surprised but it’s become incredibly apparent that they have no clue what they are doing software wise. It’s pitiful.
THis kinda goes beyond simply not making sense. It’s physically impossible to be on a “different LAN” and communicate with a LAN-only printer. There is one and only one LAN.
Think about it, you’re basically saying you cant use the LAN mode on a LAN. That…doesnt make any basic sense at all. The entire purpose of LAN mode is that you cannot use it over the Internet/cloud and MUST use it via the same LAN.
@KolfMAKER, did you manage to make it work? I have exactly the same issue. It started after I applied the update that my printer was asking for last week. Now I can’t connect through Bambu Studio — the printer is visible there, but the connection keeps blinking or just says it’s not available.
When I try to add the printer to the network using my phone, it connects but says that the devices are on different networks. I’ve tried connecting to a newly created network, networks with different bands (2.4 GHz / 5 GHz), and different phones. LAN-only mode also doesn’t work — neither adding by PIN code nor by access code.
I’ve even tried to disassemble and reassemble it (disconnecting and reconnecting all the cables), but nothing worked for me. The only option for now is to copy/paste the G-code to an SD card and print from it. I also can’t find any other topics about this issue, and none of the solutions I found online have worked.
