For certain reasons, the internet that I’m connect to on my P1S has internet bandwidth quotas, so i’m currently using LAN mode to send print jobs, as that doesn’t count towards my quota.
But I also want to use some cloud fetures like remote webcam, handy notification…etc.
Is there any settings i can change so that print jobs are sent over LAN when the printer is not in LAN mode?
You can use your phone to remote access into your pc, and view/operate bbl studio on your phone. The xplus project can do some remote control. An esp32 camera pcb can give a camera, that you can view on your network, doesn’t cost much and is better than the p1s camera.
I don’t know of any options to mix cloud and LAN modes. The majority of the transmitted data will be from the webcam. The quota may not be a problem if you do not use the webcam. Don’t use the phone on the same wifi internet connection as the printer, as that would double the usage (up to the cloud, down to phone).
Maybe my coffee hasn’t kicked in yet this morning, but if the PC is on the same LAN, I assume it is using the same metered internet access. Remote access from the phone will still require transferring the same data, just PC<>cloud instead of P1S<>cloud.
using a remote access pc is a solution, but is such a hassle… the PC would have to be constantly on, and it’d have it’s own programs/updates that’d use more quota. Not that viewing the webcam from handy doesn’t use any, i’m saying it uses additional bandwidth. And if I want to start DIY-ing solutions, I would have just bought a klipper core xy machine.
I don’t get why bambu is so dead set on using the cloud, it creates so much more issues, like how previously printers were printing random prints because their server send files to the wrong printer.
i was hopeful about the 1.10 beta, with the introduction of improved LAN functions, but it’s not really working…
I have no experiences with MQTT, but does anyone know if the printer accepts LAN request when not in LAN mode? can i write my own program to send files and commands thru LAN to the printer when in cloud mode?
I don’t use their cloud. I have no need. I use Orca slicer. All I would want on the phone would be to see the print progress. My esp32 camera does that - iirc it cost about £8.00. My x-plus, 2.5 screen with usb battery pack, gives me enough control, gives temperatures etc., more or less as good as the handy app - I think there is an i-phone version of something like the handy app that works in lan mode being developed.
wrt mqtt, I started from here MQTT for A1
My suggestions are so that you can use web cam and notifications in Lan mode.
