If there’s a chance that one day you’ll want to print any material other than PLA or PETG, get the P1S. Other than the extra cost, I believe there will be more support for it in the future.
It’s honestly not that loud. It’s only allowed if you’re getting really fast was that again the death trap is also loud.
You can make the P1S even quieter. Disorder something like dynomat or some sound absorbing material and put it on the outside.
It ain’t benefit upgrading is there the P1S is less likely to kill you. I mean the P and series have their own problems But if I was going to get a bambu printer A lean more towards the P1S. I have a P1S as well as an X1C.
If I was going to buy a printer. I would go with the Magneto X. It’s the printer that people with x’s and P’s try to convince you what there print is. But it’s $2k. Cheaper I would go with a K1 Max. I’m not a fan of the K1 but the K1 Max is pretty good. I don’t own one but I got a chance to check one out at microcenter and run a print I prepared that I bought in and if I was buying a new printer it would be on the list of what I would consider.
But if you must get a Bambu. The P1S is the one I would personally get. The enclosure makes it useful. The A series are nothing more than toys for making vases to impress grandma. The enclosure opens the door to some actual real materials so you can make some functional parts. Real materials like real polycarbonate real nylon not these the ones to make people feel better about their printing skills. And yes the peer materials are significantly better than these blends But they throw stuff like PEG in it and give the material to make it stick to plates better or plus and You start losing strength and stiffness in thermal properties.
Just keep in mind you’re going from one bad camera to an absolutely horrible camera. You’re going from the mid-2000s laptop camera to the early 1990s camera. Not only is it a slideshow but it also has the worst color contrast and overall image quality of any camera I’ve seen in the last 20 years. It’s almost like they found a box of cameras from 20 years ago and decided to go with these. There’s really no excuse why that camera is so bad You can go by a small wireless camera on Amazon and then when you look at it next to the P1S camera it looks like a professional DSLR.
If you need to get a bambu. Grab the P1S before they jack up the prices to deal with this massive loss of money they are having now. Do a few prints like the ultimate nozzle wiper. Then why you’re at it pick up one of those small cheap wireless vacuums on Amazon. Little hand vacuums for about $20. Please come in handy for vacuuming out inside of the chamber which can be kind of a pain to clean out and it always gets dirty You’re always going to have a little tiny bits of filament falling down in there.
For the most part I have 10 designs that I reprint in PETG. I got an A1 to double my output. Some of the designs I couldn’t get the A1 to print multiples on a plate and two designs are tall and thin, they kept falling over on the A! - I didn’t glue. The A1 takes spools that wouldn’t work w/o adapters, and that’s really nice. Color changes are faster on the A1, too
If you have the space, I would go P1P if you want a Bambu printer. The A1, when I could use it, was nice and fast but big flat prints in my house weren’t reliable as they wouldn’t stick to the bed long enough. I used it for smaller or taller prints. They also don’t want you making an enclosure for it which would help.
I do have both and I’m enjoying them greatly! The P1S is much louder than the A1, but the AMS is nice in the fact that you can put desicant in it and keep your filament dryer than you can with the AMS Lite. The nozzle wiping on the A1 is much better than on the P1S and I do like the fact that the AMS lite only retracts a few inches of filament between color changes vice the 1-2 feet for the AMS. Although I’ve only ever printed PLA and PETG with my printers, it’s nice to have a fully enclosed printer now. I’ll be making a comparison video in the near future. https://youtu.be/zjZetau9r-U?si=4pnL68i39eYe2Xj2
