P1S with BBL PETG issues

Hi all

3D printing total noob here, just looking for some help if possible please.

I’m trying to print a poop chute for my P1S, all other prints using this Bambu Labs PETG has been perfect. The only thing I can think of is the 3MF file/model I’ve downloaded is for PLA, would this make a difference? I have just been changing the filament to Bambu PETG in the drop down box.

The body of the print that keeps failing is great, it the angle part that looks pretty bad. I haven’t a clue what’s causing it or even how to start diagnosing what this issue could be.

I have just ran a calibration via Bambu Studio in the hope this may help.

Hopefully someone can see what my issue might be from my picture.

Thanks in advance :+1:

EDIT: Just to add some more info:
-Filament has been fully dried out
-AMS box has desiccant boxes and is reading at (1) Dry.

This worked for me when I had trouble printing with PETG. I recommend you give this a try if you haven’t already. Good Luck. Bambu Lab X1 Carbon PETG Settings - Get Perfect Prints

Thank you!

I’ll give that a read now….

Adding to that guide: Besides drying, I found that print speed is the single most important factor for successful prints with BBL PETG. In my tests, 120mm/s was already on the border and I would go even slower for best results. Where I disagree with the guide are the print speeds for other than outer wall. Also for those I would not go over 120mm/s. The outer walls make it pretty, but I also would like all other parts of the print to be sturdy.

Thanks for the advice much appreciated.

I did follow the guide when I printed again last night, it did make a significant difference. However the corners still have those strong lines like in the picture, also the under side of the angled printing (again on pic) seems better but still scruffy.

Is this a heat issues, speed issue, retraction issue or a pressure issue???

I’m lost…… as I don’t even know what I’m searching for, any idea what my problem is called?

I also printed out some PETG test prints with the newer settings and they came out really good….

I have the feeling that the PETG from BBL is not the best. There are people who report good results and others that struggle. i have given up on it and buy other brands instead. The other BBL filaments I tried gave me no trouble, so it seems to be only the PETG.

How steep is that overhang? Anything over 45° probably is asking too much.

You could reduce layer height, that should also improve overhangs but I doubt that you will completel get rid of the problems with it.

I’m beginning to think the same of BBL PETG.

I slowed down the print to 120mms on all walls, also upped the printing temp to 262°.

Just finished the Medium bucket on this design :point_down:t2:

The outer walls are near perfect, but again the underside of the slope, also a bit on the inside are rough as toast……

is it normal to have bigger poops becuse mine never stopped

Have a read.
