PA-6 CF how to use respective support filament

Hi, I have the X1-C and I need to print with PA6. I’ve already tested my model with PETG-CF and had to use supports. I’m not sure how to use supports with PA6 CF, considering that PA6 CF is not compatible with AMS. I usually print without supports and don’t have much experience using a second material for supports. In my test with PETG-CF, I used PETG-CF as the support material as well. Can I do the same with PA6? Or is it mandatory to use the proper support filament in this case? If so, how can I manage two filaments without using AMS?

“Support filament” is never mandatory. You can always use the same material for the entrire print. It might only be that the supports become hard to remove.

Thanks for the information. I imagine that if I want to use support for PA6, I would need to handle it manually, waiting for the printer to prompt me to change the filament. This procedure seems quite difficult to manage.

Can’t do that, sadly. It’s either all AMS, or all external. Can’t mix.

PA6-CF hasn’t been horrible with removing supports. If you’re worried print something small with it, one of the support tests on Makersworld or Printables.

I’m having the same problem with PPA-CF. Awesome filament, not awesome for supports. They are just as hard as the part, requiring grinding/filing of the supports.

At the end I didn’t yet tested the PPA-CF, then I can’t share my experience.

I have same problem and finally get aceptable results printing supports with the same material, but adjusting settings: tree type and 0,5mm z distance.
