PA6-GF print issues

HI !
First time I use PA6-GF, and the print quality is rather bad.
Dried it for 24h at 70°C, and tried different settings.
Here is what I obtain :

Checked speed, layer time, etc… nothing special at these heights.
Printed the model several times, lines at exact same heights, so it shouldn’t be the filament.
Forced the Wall loop direction too, same result.

What’s wrong ?

What print profile did you use? Is it modified?

When I look at the slicer’s Layer Time preview, it look very similar to the issue you have. So I’d start there if this is the stock profile. Maybe use a minimum layer time of 15-20 secs. If I’m honest, I don’t think that is the actual problem, but there is a lot of correlation, so it should help. The negative side will be pretty significant on small prints, it will print slow. Larger prints should be OK.

70°C is simply not hot enough to dehydrate the Bambu PA6-GF. My prints looked the same as yours after drying it at 70°C for 48 hours. Upgraded my setup so I could dry at 85°C and it prints beautifully. After the 48 hours @ 70°C, it took about 10 hours at 85°C to stop losing additional weight (moisture).

Keep in mind that even an AMS with the a full dessicant pod upgrade will not keep it dry enough and it needs to be redried periodically.

Used the default Bambu settings for the 1st print test.
As I wrote I already checked the speed, etc… and there is no relationship on my slice settings.
I’ve tried other speed settings with same results.

I don’t think it’s that as my drier works well for PA6-CF, I’ve perfect prints with it.

And if it was humidity I’m rather sure the lines won’t be at the exact same location on each and every prints.

it’s wet. you will remove several grams more moisture from the roll at 85°C. prints will not be fuzzy like your pic and will have a slightly shiny surface when it is all the way dry. yeah it’s a bummer; my old dryer also only went up to 70°C and also worked for everything else i’ve used until the pa6-gf. it’s extremely hygroscopic.

the lines on the print match up with one side of the spool being dryer than (closer to the heating element in your dryer) than the other

OK, but which filament dryer goes above 80°C ?

My dryer is rotating the spools, and I really can’t believe this as the lines are at the exact same position on several prints.

I’ll dry it in my kitchen oven for some time before putting the spool to the bin.

As I mentioned previously, your output matches the Layer Time preview in the slicer. I would still look in to that. I’ll let you take care of the issue because I’m not terribly appreciative of responses like that. Ignored.

i couldn’t find any, using a lab oven now

it prints real nice once it’s dry though

Sorry, not at the same height.

OK, dried 16h at 80°C in oven, lost 2g, but result is a way better, lot less lines on Benchy.

I’ve started printing my biggest part, but very difficult to get this filament to stick on the bed…

100°-110°C, clean PEI, with glue, with 3dlac, same poor adhesion.

Finally it was PVA glue that works the best.

Finally been able to print my part :
