I did go ahead and converted one of my models to OpenScad, i am still not a big fan as basic function such as fillets or chamfers are not available and workarounds needed. But wanted to check a bit more before having a set opinion on this one.
As already mentioned before, the integration still need a lot of work. In contrast to what @MakerWorld said, it is not included in the model page. There is only a link that opens the file. The user is still leaving the model page, and has no context of the model anymore after leaving the model page.
I am not sure if that was what they meant, but is not a very good experience.
Aside from that, the only indication that a model is parameterized is by having a small badge in the corner. There is no dedicated entry point in the category tree for parameterized models, or at least i did not find them. The icon in the corner has no attribution attached to it, means no title, Tooltip or something so that no user has the idea that this can be customized - because the icon is not explained.
Files generated through the model maker are always named āParametricModelMaker.3mf / .stlā, its not related to the generated content at all. Also the files do not include the meta data from the profiles and also miss all related settings from them. As soon as the file is generated and downloaded all information about the author are basically wiped out, i hope this is a bug and will get fixed very soon.
Depending on Size the model is not always placed on the build-plate after downloading and even if designed perfectly, they are placed on a 45Ā° angle on the plate.
Last note. The customize tab counts, as soon as a user clicks it. IĀ“ve managed to generated all 4 clicks shown by myself while writing this post. Please donĀ“t ban me for this, was just testing stuff.

Edit:
Incentives: If a user downloads a STL or 3MF from customization view, it will be counted as one download if the user does not download the model before. Printing of customized models cannot be tracked yet.

If i would be here for points, there is no incentive for me as a designer to provide these customizable assets to a user. With the situation that is probably the same as i mentioned before that generated assets loose every connection to the original model. If prints are not counted you would be stupid to provide these files, if you are here for the points.
Edit:
After looking at this for a while, i am missing presets a Designer can provide. It would be nice if we would be allowed to also ship a set of predefined settings for variants directly to the user.
