Pen next to the part is just for size reference. I think it fell off the underside of the print fan. I doubt it will fit back without rattling and falling off again. Not sure of the purpose. I have one A1 mini and Two A1’s . I see it is loose and rattling on the new A1’s also. Is it safe to use the printer without i t?.
Update: As i mentioned I have 2 A1’s and one A1min - On the A1 mini and the A1 I got from Microcenter, both have this round piece at the bottom, whereas the A1 that was bought directly from Bambulab store online on launch day does NOT have this round cover at the bottom of the fan. Strange but here are the pictures.
A1 from Microcenter (has round opening at bottom where cover fell off and there is no sensor):
Also, when I had ordered the A1mini, I had also ordered some spares a few days later and I checked the new spare A1mini hotend fan bought early November this year. That fan also has this round cover. Even Stanger. I saw on one of the release reviews for A1 on youtube and one of them said something briefly about them planning a sensor here earlier but then decided to use a nozzle sensor or something.
This is in such bad taste to ship out the initial batch of printers with this flimsy cap and then later fix it quietly and wait till the unlucky or early buyers like me complain about parts falling on the print-bed from the printer mid print. Not good.
It’s likely the cover for the sensor on the bottom of the fan. The sensor should not fall out, but you might get some issues when some purged filament gets between the bed and the sensor.
Exactly - but why should it fall off on one printer and is already rattling like a beast on the other ? There is no sensor underneath the cover and in newer (if that even applies) A1’s have a plain sticker with part of that circle still there but covered with a sticker.
Referring to the images on the wiki, it seems there’s a sensor disk at the bottom of the part cooling fan housing on the A1 Mini, as seen here: BambuLab Wiki - Toolhead Maintenance.
Interestingly, all my A1 Minis, regardless of whether they have the old or new X-Axis Assembly, feature round caps in this location. I’ve been unable to remove any of these caps, but it seems like they should be reinsertable if they come out. I guess this might be an assembly issue from production, possibly dislodged during transport.
It is interesting that the newer units come without it. I agree that it seems somewhat redundant. However, I’ve noticed that during the first few layers, the printer moves the head to the left and shifts the bed back and forth several times. I’m not exactly sure why it does this, but I suspect it might be related to that sensor. I haven’t checked if mine is missing this component as well.
In any case, since yours doesn’t have anything under the cap, it seems you can just disregard it and enjoy the benefit of a lighter printhead. (Even if the difference might be unnoticeable.)
Murphy’s 17th law stipulates that if one takes something apart and puts it back together and then repeats that process often enough, eventually there will be sufficient leftover parts to build two of them.
I think your instincts are spot-on. It looks like decorative piece based on he clips which may hide a screw hole or some other feature that the designers felt looked better covered up. In other words, it’s a non-functional trim piece much like the caps one might find over screw holes of just about anything made of plastic. If it fell off once, it likely will fall off again. Surely you must have in your household a junk drawer full of flotsam and jetsam gathered over the years. I think it just found a new guest.
Hi - I opened and closed the support ticket as well. No point.
I have simply removed the covers and been printing since without any issues (both A1 and A1mini). In the event I need to install the spare fan I have, will remove it in advance as well.
I had an issue with the sticker under the fan: it unpeeled itself during print catching some small parts that I was printing and causing a big blob that was not detected by the clogging detection function.
I opened a ticket for this just to signal the problem and make them aware of it. I didn’t see others with the same problem so I assume that its more probable to be an isolated case. Maybe it was just my sample or that It happened something extraordinary in my case that caused this(like a failed print that somehow caught an edge of the sticker).
Sorry to resurrect this old topic but I thought that it is related to this and it might be easier for others to find it.
Hey @Bisti This just happened to me with an A1 Mini - Combo purchased beginning of May. Except to my investigation the sticker didn’t peel off but was partially melted/scorched… The underside of the right part fan duct is also scorched brown… Nothing happened out of the ordinary besides finishing a print then starting a new one when underextrusion started then only noticed this because of a piece of the sticker on the bed and looking underneath the toolhead.
I just submitted a ticket (7/27/24) with video and photos requesting replacements, I was very skeptical purchasing the A1 series and thought the wait was okay until this happening. The fact this printer didn’t come with the logo textured bed leads me to think it’s older production as well. Won’t be using this A1 Mini until reaching Bambu Labs support for further details.
The logo missing is strange, indeed. The sticker you have on your machine seems bonded with some foam tape but mine had the glue directly on the sticker like normal vinyl .
But being scorched is a bit strange because no intense heat should get there. Did you ever have a blob?
