Parts getting knocked off near end on PEI plate

So I’ve been printing the Modular Drawer Organizer
I got through the first set of parts, nearly 1.5kg of PLA with no issues printing on to a brand new BambuLab PEI plate.

But then I hit a wall. Nearly everything I print now starts fine, and prints for 4-5hrs but in the last 60-90 min of the print the head will knock a part loose and then all hell breaks out. I tried babysitting the print last night and of 12 parts, I was only able to save one.

I have cleaned the plate, I have rubbed it with 000 steel wool, washed with detergent, and 99% IPA

Tried printing again, and again with a wide brim. But the piece completely separated from the brim and the plate at the slightest bump.

I went back to the smooth high-temp plate with glue stick and was successfully able to print, those guys were so stuck on, and the brim came off with the part.
So for a while I was thinking it was the PEI plate, but after reading some stuff here, I don’t think it’s the plate.

I can confirm the bed is warming up. I tried turning the bed temp up, I tried no fan for first 3-4 layers, door open, door closed. Nothing…

This might help you out.

The aux fan can warp parts or cool the bed off if the part has big walls it shoots the air to the bed and you know what happens :scream:

I don’t even use the aux fan for big parts or you can set it to like 25% or so if you need the extra cooling.

I don’t use a brims for pla and set your PEI bed plate to 60C for PLA.

On the glue sometimes you have to use it depends on the part design also cheap insurance on big parts.

The sparse grid infill can give problems even with pla do to it overlaps so you might even try a none overlap infill pattern like Gyroid depending on your part specs.

Letting go of the PEI plate - I’d be wondering about build plate temp holding.

Check the plug and wiring on the underside of the build plate.

Turning the fan down to about 20% has helped significantly. I also put a touch of glue on the PEI plate. I know, I know, controversial topic. But it’s working and prints are sticking, and looking good. I’ll call it a win.
