So just noticed that there are a ton of parts for Bambu Lab printers and not just
“better” nozzles and build plates but parts, at least on Amazon are indistinguishable from the Bambu Lab part.Vital electronic parts included.
See my pictures. Notice the brand names, some of which I highlighted.
Are they?
1)Counterfeit
2)Manufactured under license
3)Something else
I would assume (and this is strictly an assumption) that these are illegitimately produced. Though, because of the brand names, I would say that the overseas companies care exactly 0% if Bambu would try to take action.
Like @Locoman said, “buyer beware”.
This would be interesting to study further, but I would not keep hopes up for legitimately produced cheap parts.
I bought a “Official Bambu Lab Hardened Steel Extruder Gear Assembly Hot End Gear Kit with Aluminum Handle Assembly, for Bambu lab X1, X1C, Carbon P1, P1P, P1S 3D Printers” through Amazon and the item and the packaging look Bambu and the price matched what was in the Bambu store at the time. That said, I haven’t actually installed it yet and unfortunately there are people who will buy and item on Amazon, swap it with a used item or inferior of the same but from a different brand (happens with high end guitar strings) and return it for not being needed or being the wrong part. Since they usually just stay in the Amzon universe and not sent back to the manufacture the item will eventually get resold to someone. Which I believe is one of the reasons Amazon gets really anoid with someone for doing “excessive” returns.
I’m not so sure it’s Bambu selling them since the sellers aren’t Bambu Labs.
It’s pretty common for lines to run long in China and excess production gets sold into the black market. Parts can be anything from exact same as legit to poor counterfeits.
I don’t think it is, most probably bambulab chinese resellers, purchasing at wholesale prices and cheaper chinese prices and selling at US/EU bambu store prices on amazon.
I have bought stuff on Amazon for a long time.
It IMO is bogus stuff.
I buy brand name stuff regularly and when a company sets up shop on Amazon, in that company line you will see Visit the Store as in these pictures.
Why would Bambu Lab not set up their own store on Amazon if they so desired.
This willpotentially wreak havoc on their warranty.
Bambu has an official Amazon store but everything is showing "currently unavailable ". My guess is they gave Amazon a shot at some point and didn’t like it.
The only thing that mitigates against that theory is the sheer number of distinct companies/brands selling the parts.
I just did a very small sample with the pictures but there were the same parts listed with dozens of companies selling the same component.
It was not like I had to dig to find those parts.
A new search seems to indicate Bambu Labs is in the process of standing up an official store on Amazon as this is new. (I have long wished Bambu Lab would sell their filament on Amazon)
As a Prime member I can generally save a few bucks on shipping and the stuff will get to me much more quickly.
The potential counterfeit/knock-off is what concerns me.
Having somebody buy a knock-off that only looks like a Bambu product and then wanting guidance from forum because their Bambu Lab .4mm nozzle doesn’t work, is also going to happen.
Structurally, the two nozzles are different but lots of people will see $19.00 vs $29.00 and that $10.00 savings is all they will see.
This is not coming directly from Bambu. Can’t remember who the vendor was listed when I bought my part. I believe this place is a trophy shop so they maybe selling on spare parts from inventory or decided to get away from Bambu. The part did not look used, no wear or discoloration. I didn’t want to pay the BL shipping or buy even more stuff I don’t need to get free shipping.
I don’t think I got ripped off and I don’t mind helping a small buisness, but yeah, buying stuff on Amazon can be a ■■■■ shoot with the dice loaded against you.
