Pause during printing and remove an object from the print bed

Is there a way to pause during printing and remove an object from the plate and tell the printer to stop printing that one object?
I had the following problem, I had four parts printing and one of them came off the print bed and I had to remove it so it wouldn’t come off the other parts. After that, the printer wanted to continue printing the removed component and produced a lot of spaghetti because it printed into the air. Is there a way to prevent this?

Next time, if yours objects are far apart enough, you can print them sequentially, it is faster and you wont lost already printed objects.

EDIT: also it make it possible to print each object in a different colors without loosing filament or using purge.

@PrinterMcgee
This would really be a great feature. Is really tedious when it solves after 5 hours a part and the other parts would actually be fine.

@DzzD
Thanks. I know the function, but unfortunately I could not use it in this case because the parts were too big.

YES, there actually is!

It seems you can currently only do it via the mobile app - Just tested it out: I paused the print, then tapped onto the small icon with the 3 boxes and the curved arrow and the text “skip”, then you see a top view of your print bed and can select the model directly and chose to skip it!

Okay this just saved 8 hours of my life. I appreciate you!

Thanks so much, you saved my ass on the fly!

One thing to note, my P1S will finish the layer it was on even when I skip that object. So you may need to “babysit” the print until that layer is finished.

Thanks a lot!!! saved me an overnight print.

Thank you man. Doing the lord’s work

Hi, I did not even pause the print. I just went into the mobile app and followed the instructions above. And when printing the next layer, the printer just skipped the selected part.

I’m so glad I checked nd found this post. Saved me a lot of time and wasted material.
The big question is, Why isn’t this in the desktop Bambu Studio application???
Or is it and it is just hiding somewhere?

It is in the current Studio beta, only for H2D and X1C with the newest firmware so far

Very helpful post, thanks for this info. Already saved me time, trouble and filament when one part disconnected from the print bed. Skip, and the other parts printed fine. If Bambu Lab reads this, it would be great to have this as feature in Bambu Studio for all printers, especially the P1S. :slight_smile:

Thank you so much! never knew this before!

Skip Objects | Bambu Lab Wiki
When slicing, if one plate has multiple objects, the slicer will give each object a number in Gcode. When you use the object skip function to skip an object during the printing process, the printer will skip the Gcode that belongs to this object and not print. (Note the difference between objects and parts in Bambu Studio: Split to Objects/Parts | Bambu Lab Wiki)

You definitely earned a “thumbs up” for that one. Thanks! I knew that feature was there somewhere and don’t want to tell you how much time I wasted in Studio looking for it. As soon as I saw your post I went back and saw the tiny curved arrow icon in the Printing Progress window. D’Oh!

Brother you are an ace. Just had a 13hr print and half way thru one of the supports failed on a multi part print. You just saved my wall from meeting my forehead. Thank You.

Thanks a Ton :grinning_face: , I Didn’t see the skip part function for the P1s. I have used it on the X1C but couldn’t find it on the P1S. Why is it not on the windows app?? It’s crazy all the functionality isn’t on the windows app also.

This has already been answered bit i thought I’d point out that not pausing when skipping is better than pausing then skipping, the latter sometimes misses a bit, or it did for me anyway. Just skip mid print. Best feature of all time.
