PEI Plate Fly out of Printer

I just came home and wanted to check on my print which i startet when i left home.
I came inside home and see something on ground. Hmm how one of my plates comes in the middle of the room ? i turn the plate and notice thats they print i started before i left. Lucky i left the printer door open due it was a PETG print- How the F**** can the PEI plate fly out of the printer???
I checked the printer the nozzle was full of molten PETG which i could easy pull off. The Cover was hanging on the left side. Since ABS Print i have to glue the cover always with tape and this time it felt of even as it was taped. The PEI Plate was the Golden with PET backside. Yesterday happens that i thought i put the plate no perfect on because it moved 10cm to the door. had to stop the print and rearange the plate. How can this be happen ? i use this plate since weeks with no problems at all and now it looses to stick on the heatbed. does anyone experiance same problems ?!

I’m not expert, but the plate is magnetic and holds onto the build plate fairly well.

To be moving around suggests to me either a los of magnetism or something else is very wrong.

The fact that you have to glue the cover (assuming tools head cover) in place to print, means that you have some major issues with the printer.

I’d take photos, video if possible, etc… And submit a ticket.

I wanna see the time lapse!!

The PET Plate is from Aliexpress one Side golden PEI and other side PET. It is very thing with the original Plate no problem now but it is strange that the PET Plate starts to loosen up.

How is your gold plate holding compared to the Bambu plate? Do they feel about the same ?

I know back in the early days when these steel flex plates came out the first gen of magnets would break down from the abs bed heat and the plates would shift or peel up.

Oh, it’s not the stock plate. Ok, so this might seem like a dumb question. Is the plate metal? Some after market stuff requires that you either stick or glue a magnet to the build plate. If that’s the case then it makes since that the plate is moving around because nothing is holding it in place.

Some sheets need clamps to hold them in place. An example would be glass, it can’t stick so something has to hold it down. There are also none glass sheets that require clamps too.

Its not the stock plate and yes it is a thin plate when you compare to original Bambu plates and one side is textured Pei and other side is PET with square pattern it makes a nice carbon look on prints.
i thought also to buy some clamps like for a glas bed.

Ok, so, I think that’s the problem.

You need something to hold it in place as it sounds like it’s not magnetic. What happens if you toss it on the refrigerator (assuming yours is made of metal) if it falls off, it’s not magnetic and that’s the problem.

Ok, odd.

Ok, what bed temp are you running? I ask because I know that depending on the type of magnet, they can lose magnetism when temps get to be around 80c. Could that be an issue?

I’m very curious about this issue. It is odd and for it to suddenly start… My curiosity is peaked.

The heat bed has a magnetic sheet stuck to it. The steel plate is attracted to it.

I am only running genuine Bambu plates and they stick well but I did buy a flex plate on Aliexpress once and it was made of 304 stainless so only mildly ferrous and the magnets didn’t hold it well so it went in the bin. You could have the same issue.

I think you mean the plate is not magnetized. Steel is most definitely magnetic. A term most often used to describe if something also responds to magnetized force.

The Ali Plate is sticking good, when i pull its thight i really have no clue how this can happen im so afraid, that i dont use the plate anymore but since i print so much PETG i use only Engineering Plate with glue which is annoying when you have the WhamBam PEX Plate.

Good to know you know that you were using a misnomer intentionally.
I am informing anyone who is under the impression that you were not using a misnomer, which could have been yourself easily.

Do own any cats?
Seriously, its my guess that when your extruder cover fell off it hooked onto the print or the plate and popped it loose from the bed.

Yes prp1960 youre absolutly right i totaly forgot that sure the cover kicked the printed parth together with the plate out. Thanks thats for sure the matter i think, good to know i can use it again
LOL printed all time glue with engineering plate. sucks
