PEI Texture Bed Random Adhesion Issues

Hi guys - new Bambu user, long time 3D printing user. After owning (4) Prusa MK3s printers - I am a bit spoiled when it comes to ease of use. Bambu has made it even easier and I am amazed each day at what this printer can do. BUT I have also had some issues that I am trying to work through and hoping you can help.

So in short - I have made a number of successful prints, single and multi-color - but also have a number of first layer fails. I have tried both .40 and .20 nozzles successfully - recalibrate - self test each time - clean the beds - both texture and cool etc and overall am quite pleased. Adjusted temps etc. I am using both Bambu Labs PLA and Overture PLA.

My issue - SOMETIMES after the default bed level procedure before the print starts - I noticed that the Z-axis is a tad too high and the filament is not touching the bed - I have seen this mostly with the Textured bed - this is after running the same print successfully without any changes. When the print is successful - it is very difficult to get the parts off the bed - both cool and texture. It is like the Z-axis is too low and squishes the print too much.

I noticed when the bed is scanning and leveling there is sometimes some ooze and I am wondering if that is throwing off the sensor and therefore causing the Z-axis problem.

Any ideas - I really like the printer but I can truly state that this printer has already had more failed starting, first layers than my Prusa printers and I am starting to get frustrated and hoping you can help.

I just re-ran a self-test / calibration and I am about to start printing a part and will report back.

Thanks all

Please disable the LiDAR with the textured plate, run full manual calibrations and add OrcaSlicer along side BBS, they can both coexist on the same system BUT Orca holds your settings even if you have to reset the machine BBS doesn’t

Thank you. As for disabling LiDAR - I assume you mean Flow Dynamics Calibration check box? If so - yes that box is always unchecked before printing. As for Orca - I will try that. Can you clarify on what you mean by “holds your settings”? I save the 3MF project after I make my adjustments to the options and they seemed to be saved / recalled when I load the project and then I have been just using BBS to send to the printer over the network at this time with Print Plate (unchecking Flow Dynamics - but usually keep Bed leveling checked)

Thanks for your time and fast reply.
