When using Bambu Studio my monitor goes black for 2 secounds and then back to normal operation, this occurs very often and makes it difficult to use the application.
Using Windows 11, latest Nvidia Drivers, RTX 3080 Ti, 4K resolution, GSync On, 144 Hz.
Using the video monitor in Studio or OrcaSlicer would make my screen go black, flash, and crash Windows Explorer, so my desktop would be empty. Sometimes I’d have only the video stream from the printer showing on an otherwise black screen. Rebooting or logging out and back into Windows were the only ways to get everything back to normal, but it usually would not happen a second time that day. Windows 10 and Nvidia drivers were all up to date.
I also had an issue with .mp4 videos only appearing as a black window with sound. Re-starting VLC would correct the problem.
I don’t use the Edge browser, and had the Edge updater disabled. After lots of Googling, I found several indications that Edge or Edge Webview runtime was the problem. Since manually updating Edge (which also updated Webview) from v110 to v115 a week ago, I have not had a black screen or window.
Ok, it looks like I found a fix, at least it hasn’t blanked on me once since I did this:
Open Nvidia Control Panel, go into “Manage 3D Settings”, then under “Program Settings” add Bambu Studio if it isn’t already there. Then for Bambu Studio I changed:
“Max Frame Rate” to “58FPS”
“Monitor Technology” to “Fixed Refresh”
“Preferred refresh rate” to “Application-controlled”
“Vertical Sync” to “Use the 3D application setting”
After clicking “Apply”, the next time I loaded Bambu Studio the problem was gone. I don’t know if it is just one or some of the above that fixed it but I am content as long as it seems to be working.
