PET-CF Questions

I’ve been considering switching from PETG-CF to PET-CF for the better heat resistance for outdoor parts.

I was hoping someone with PET-CF experience can chime in on a few questions:

  • Does anyone know if PET-CF is more difficult to print than PETG-CF?
  • I see PET-CF says not AMS compatible. Why not? Are there any mods that resolve this (like the Hydra AMS?)
  • What are the major downsides of PET-CF vs PETG-CF? A quick google search shows PET-CF has less impact resistance, but I am printing camera brackets for outdoor applications so I wouldn’t assume impact is a large factor. My biggest concern is Heat Deflection.
  1. Because PET-CF is too hard and brittle and thus could break in the AMS easily.
  2. PET-CF is brittle, especially in Z direction of the prints, so it has weaker impact, collision and fall resistance. On the other hand, PET-CF is much harder, stiffer, stronger and more heat-resistant than PETG-CF.
Bambulab has some tables listing some performance of different kinds of filament:

Hope this can help you.
