So I’ve been trolling the PETG-HF page for ages now, and I’m not here to complain about the general lack of stock. I get that it’s in very high demand.
With the exception of Black and Gray, every Out of Stock colour has no estimated restock date…just says Sold Out. Maybe it’s a little paranoid, or short-dighted considering the demand, but are these colours discontinued? Most of the ones that are Sold Out are alternative shades of colours that are (as I’m typing this) In Stock…such as Lake Blue (sold out) vs Blue (in stock).
Basically, I’m looking to get some spools of Dark Gray specifically. Been on the email list for a while now and so far…nothing.
If you’re running a business, then you’re better off sourcing the 3rd party filaments elsewhere. But it could be better managed for sure, we don’t know what the deal is. It has been like this for many months.
I use Bambu filaments because of the makerworld points. My beef is white PETG-HF only come with spools which I already have a pile of them. @bambuLab Please make sure basic colors black and white have refill option, save the environment.
Just my theory, but Bambu MAY be getting ready to release an updated PETG HF formulation.
The new PETG Basic has certainly leapfrogged PETG HF in mechanical properties and printability, the only place it’s lacking is print speed.
Going off pricing, it’s a bit weird that PETG HF is currently the same price as Basic, they’ve largely made it obsolete with the exception of print speed, but they clearly didn’t intend to replace HF as the colors aren’t the same.
On that basis, I expect a PETG HF with equal or better print speed to the current HF AND better mechanical properties would be their next move.
It isn’t just PETG-HF, lots of filaments are out of stock. I was looking to get into ABS/ASA, and they have almost nothing.
Today they have the dark blue PETG-HF so I ordered some of that, but I’m also waiting for the dark gray and forest green.
I wish they would just let you order it, put you on a backorder list and ship it when they get it, first come first served. This “notify when available” method is poor at best and annoying in any case.
(And yes, don’t preach at me about “alternate suppliers”. I know that. I just want some specific Bambu stock.)
Yeah, I couldn’t agree more. This email notification system, and then everyone scrambling to get in their order before the limited stock runs out again, is ridiculous. The little bit of PETG-HF I did end up ordering about a week ago, I didn’t even get notified about. I just happened to look and there was stock so I ordered it as quickly as I could.
So, a bunch of print farms put in orders for large numbers of rolls of HF and get all the stock that comes in and I have a need for 1 roll every month or so as a hobbyist and get no chance to get it for months or longer because it would go out of stock before even showing any stock. Seems fair to me.
