PETG-HF woes

Can anyone please tell me why this keeps happening with PETG-HF? It is dried and AMS shows moisture level as 2. I’m using the engineering plate and it has glue applied. Do I need more glue? This photo is after I stopped the print and the bed lowered. I’m using the standard Bambu print profile.

is there some reason you are trying to print PETG on the engineering plate instead of a PEI plate?

Simply because I have it and I don’t have a PEI plate. It says it is for PETG; is that incorrect?

How are you cleaning your plate? When printing with PETG, often glue is used as a release layer rather than an adhesion promoter.

Plate was cleaned with detergent and warm water.

I’ve never used these plates for printing PETG. With PETG-HF, I use the textured PEI plate. The engineering plate though was discontinued before PETG-HF was a thing. Is PETG-HF really that different? It could be in some ways, and I could see that affecting it’s ability to stick to the plate while normal PETG might work better. Beyond that, with the engineering plate phased out, they probably, especially, haven’t tweaked it for PETG-HF

Beyond that, I’m not sure the engineering plate is dialed in. I’ve come across a few post in the past on reddit where people talked about it, and the settings they used to get the engineering plate working well with materials like PETG.

Might be worth searching around reddit and seeing if you can dig up some of those post. I can’t remember exactly which settings they adjusted, unfortunately. It might also be worth running some non-hf PETG, and see how that performs with the plate. That could help narrow it down to see if it’s a petg-hf issue, or a plate settings issue.

Hello,

Bambu’s Petg-hf is as much petg as my dog, I don’t know what it is but it isn’t petg, it’s wonderful stuff, It has all but replaced my standard petg use - but - it absolutely is not petg. Any knowledge you have for petg should be thrown out the window

It seems to print best on textured pei and does not like being squished at all, more so than any petg I have ever used - I’ve put a z offset just for the petg-hf, it’s weird stuff but also the best petg i’ve ever printed with… so fast too. prints outer walls like it’s cf infused, great filament.

I can’t speak for everyone, but if I see the AMS reading 2, I stop and dry everything. Maybe it’s placebo effect, but everything seems to print better when I do.
