Hi I have an X1C that printed perfectly until just recently. I print kind of 50/50 PETG and PLA. However, recently I can’t get PLA to print anymore (have tried Bambu Basic PLA and VoxlePLA). I posted this question similarly in reddit and got some troubleshooting help which at the end didn’t work.
Here’s what I’ve tried doing so far with PLA:
- I had changed for a 0.6mm nozzle assembly and reverted back to 0.4mm nozzle and that didn’t fix the issues. For the PLA, the first layer prints fine and the next layers fail.
- Reverted from the Beta 4 Bambu studio to the latest stable, tried orca slicer with all new profiles.
- Tried upping the temperature at the PLA settings, then bringing it back down.
- Tried turning the parts cooling fan up and down.
- Of course dried the filament (both PLAs I have been trying)
- Turned off and on the machine, ran the calibration
- I’ve tried with the door open and top glass completely removed.
- I changed versions reverting from beta 4 to latest stable and then also tried orca slicer.
- The calibration lines print beautiful, and the first layer looks ok, but then everything goes to hell.
To me it looks like if with PLA, the nozzle delivers the filament at the wrong height. I am still at a loss why PETG will work just fine.
Have you tried printing any of the parts included on the printer with pla? That will tell you if its a slicing problem or a printer issue.
Jon, THIS was it. For the first time I printed a model from the machine memory and for the first time also a benchy, and IT WORKED. Thank you very much!
So it is software as you suggested. It had to be either the Bambu Studio Beta 4 or the previous Beta that did this. I think after I installed these betas I only printed in PETG. When I tried to print PLA post these installations, it didn’t work, so I reverted to the stable version of the Bambu Studio (1.8.4.51), this didn’t fix it, so I tried Orca Slicer and that didn’t work either.
To me it is a puzzle where in the software the issue is. One of the two betas (4 or previous) did the deed, which carried back when I reverted to the stable version and even to Orca Slicer.
I have an open ticket, if and when Bambulab responds, I will tell them this to see if they can help. Unless you or someone in the forum can figure out this puzzle.
Again Jon, thank you so much. I am relieved that the issue is not with the machine itself.
Here is my first benchy and print from the machine memory ever:
(the lighting in the picture shows a black z-screw, in real life it is not that dirty, I promise I try to clean and re-lubricate often)
That’s right-nice looking boat ya got there skipper!
