PLA Tough - Temperamental Filament?

Our department got a bunch of PLA tough thinking it would be a bit better than the basic PLA. We have hatchbox on order (I understand it’s the OEM PLA), but making use of all the Bambu PLA tough we have

Thing is, this stuff seems very finicky. Baked rolls for 8 hrs 3 times in a row and still get stringing or under extrusion many times over.

Two X1C’s in a lab environment. AMS is dry. (Both very new, 1 month old)

We did:

  • both flow calibrations + made sure the profile is selected in studio
  • made sure firmware is up to date + recalibrated both printers
  • as mentioned, did 3 dry cycles.
  • nozzle and bed temp set by studio. I bump it up to 40C for the cool plate (textured PEI engineering plates are coming in soon, have to make do with what we have).

The regular PLA and CF PLA are printing phenomenal, but PLA tough is very hit and miss. Can’t figure it out. Is this filament just not consistent? Is this why it got discontinued?
