Planned obsolescence? (sarcasm)

Not sure if it’s just how the universe works or what. My X1C has 230 hours on it, and those 230 hours have been mostly flawless, any issues came down to filament or the slicer for the more part. In the past week, it seems like everything has started to go wrong all at once though. AMS keeps jamming/freezing/glitching, nozzles and extruder keep clogging from load/unload/ams failures, having random glitches/freezes with the printer and with BS.

I’ve reset everything, refreshed firmwares, softwares etc, did all maintenance and adjustments, been using the same filaments I always use and printing the same parts I always print, so I don’t think it’s anything I’m doing in particular, just seems like a bunch of stuff is all breaking/not working right at once, like it’s planned or something

I think they screwed something up on the a recent update. Only PLA and PETG have been working perfectly for me. When I moved to ABS, ASA and TPU I’ve noticed that the prints have been doing odd things cooling wise. I can see tangible differences in some of the new and old slicer profiles, but syncing them up doesn’t address the issues. I clearly see what they were trying to improve in the ASA profile, but it wasn’t done well, IMO. All that said, I still don’t fully understand the scope of the changes. I almost feel like there was a change in the firmware that we can’t see that required a lot of tweaks in the slicer profiles that we can see. However, if they don’t do a perfect job in tweaking the slicer profiles, we are up the river with only a soup ladle for an ore.

Never change a running System!

I have been struggling like crazy suddenly with ASA clogs on every print now. I print 95% ASA and always with .6 nozzle.

When stopping the print and powering it off after it clogs and releasing the hot end, the nozzle itself never seems clogged as I can easily manually push new filament through. But when removing the remaining old filament, I see it has clearly balled up at the entry to the hotend, as if it was clogged. Have tried new filament spools too, same issue.

Do you have any more info to share on what you found with recent update and high temp materials? Is there a safe version to roll back to and would that be Studio or firmware? Thanks!

No issues with clogs for me. Personally, I’d suggest you only pull filament out of the Bambu printers when they are good and jammed. There really isn’t a good reason to do it otherwise. The filament cutter works well and negates the need to do that. Just use the unload macro and load a new filament. If you often pull filament from the hot end through the cold side, you will likely create more clogs. This happens because those balls of molten plastic will deposit in places they shouldn’t, only to later cause more problems.

I noticed they are still changing the ASA profile in Bambu Studio, so make sure you have the newest version (public). I just downloaded one about 2 weeks ago. I think I’m seeing changes in the profiles, but I haven’t used ASA lately to tell you if I thinks it’s better or not.
