Sadly i cannot contribute more because all my reports are being ignored since a few weeks ago (go figure why). I only report stuff when i “step” into it…
If anyone wants to try, be my guest. That guy, Decorartor and others should be stopped from posting that cr@p honestly… That’s the reason why i am posting here whenever i find something that should be looked at by makerworld.
I haven’t checked the 3d view and so I wasn’t aware that pretty much whole project could fit on a single A1 Mini plate (or 2 at most)… Yeah, if It was a beginner move I’d be now “ok-ish” wit maaaaaybe 2 models and chuck it under “he didn’t know better”, but not 4.
Idk if this belongs here but it certainly seems suspicious to me.
This model was uploaded 3 days ago and the amount of downloads is crazy. The user also has another version uploaded 6 days ago and all the ratings have replays from a different user thanking members for their reviews. Just seems very strange to me. Let me know what you all think.
Other people made profiles, and they responded to people who reviewed their profiles. If someone reviews a profile that isn’t mine (even though it is my model), it doesn’t notify me, and only notifies the profile creator. Hence the replies.
That’s was my first thought, so I checked the other profiles for the model and they are not uploaded by the user that keeps thanking people for the ratings.
And I am all over the 3d printing social media groups and have only seen this model promoted in a single redit topic.
I also have a fairly successful and purpose made model that I have promoted VERY thoroughly and have not gotten even half of the downloads and boosts this person has and my model is actually something every AMS lite user can actually make use of.
Just seems so strange to me that this model and the other version of it have had so much attention in less than a week with almost no promotion.
Yes both of those users are in a way affiliated with this model. Idk I just cannot wrap my head around how a micro hex but holder gets over 4k downloads and over 100 boosts between 2 models in less than a week. Seriously. Are we in the matrix or do other people see how suspicious this looks
Most of the times, seeing how things work here sometimes, it’s better to ignore certain things than to bring them on public. I am not saying that this person or persons are “guilty” of something, but i can tell you for sure that the model, or should i say all of those bits models, are not his creation. A simple search around the most common 3d printing websites shows the origin of the model and that it is also parametric. It’s just a matter of writing the size you want and it’s saved as a STL/STEP file. For anyone that prints stuff for more than 15 years, it’s common to see and recognize “old” models when they are uploaded in makerworld as “new”.
But… since @MakerWorld is responding slowly, or not responding at all, to some reports, i don’t see it getting deleted or anything like that. Just check the Board Games contest where one of the top spin model is gaining traction and it’s clearly using pictures from Amazon/Shein/Aliexpress/Ebay,etc. and i even showed the origin of the model itself in another topic.
As i said before, Makerworld needs moderation for uploaded models or at least take reports more seriously.
I’m curious on what you all think. Is it ok for someone to take an existing profile, download it, and make 1-2 minor adjustments and then post it? I personally think that it is not cool, and settings should be individually set by the profile maker. The best profiles often have complex settings and specific orientations, and for someone else to be able to take that and just change two things and say it’s their own should not be allowed. I have no clue how this would be combatted though.
Simple. All users should have final say on what profiles are allowed to be uploaded to their own models. As far as I know, Makerworld is the only model repository that doesn’t allow designers complete control over their models, and that’s something they really should have.
Another way to cut down on the low effort, bare minimum profile creation is to take away the point earning ability of profiles on other peoples models. So if I created a profile on your model, I wouldn’t earn any points regardless of have many downloads it had.
What i have been telling the entire time. This is the way that us, creators, can deliver the right profiles according to our model. Instead, anyone can upload a profile where they upped the temperature to 280 degrees Celsius for pla or even make it smaller than it should be and the rest of the parts won’t fit, etc., etc…
This is just wrong and i agree with you @Dr_Operator
Since you are well known, maybe @MakerWorld will listen to you if you propose that
