I would like to introduce you to the poop chute from my P1P. I have a large container under my desk that I rarely have to empty. I have been using the poop chute for 8 months without a problem. Here is the link at Makerworld and a short video
Thank you for spelling āchuteā properly. That said, Bambu advises against any kind of attachment directly against the poop opening, as they say it can lead to clogs. Your design seems to make that unlikely, but I figured Iād point it out. Bambu Lab Mods to be cautious about | Bambu Lab Wiki
Thanks for the tip, yes I know this wiki and thatās why my report here. Iāve been using it for 8 months now, and Iāve printed a lot in multiple colors without any problems. I designed this because I previously had problems with containers that were too small and filled up quickly. I donāt have everything covered at the back and the diameter is so large that everything fits through, even strange shapes
I think itās FREAKING RIDICULOUS that we have to print a solution to something that is OBVIOUSLY not ok. Dumping plastic out the back of the machine? EVERY SINGLE USER is going to have to find a solution. For $1500, Iād have expected one to be provided for me.
or, maybe Iām just mad because my first attempt at printing a poop chute failed at 40% after 6 hours.
There is merit in not providing a solution with the printer purchase.
If you search on MW for such a device, you will see a vast array of choices with many different ātakesā on the problem and many other solutions.
Your need might require something that comes out of the back and to the side. You may prefer something that piles it up at the back, or you might like one that makes it go off the back of a desk and into something mounted under the desk, or you may prefer it doing its ābusinessā off the desk into a litter tray.
You may print lots and wish to clean up every so often, so you need something big, you may little and clean up often, or you may need something small, Goldilocks wants to try printing and she goes for something right in the middle.
If you have multiple printers, should the waste extraction systems link up (couplers are available on MW)? You didnāt get an AMS and you donāt care where they go (I know a couple of people like that).
The problem for BL is which of those 14 variations (more likely 50) should be put in the box?
In an ideal world, the user could choose from an array of choices presented to them and press a few buttons, wait a short while (or longer depending on the selected model, but, still far faster than when I started 3D printing) and get the exact solution that meets the needs of that individual.
At the same time, the new user has had time to sit with the printer and decide what is best, a decision new users are unlikely to have made. Plus, you have something to print for your likely second or third print after the bench and scraper tool has come off your new matter conversion device (a replicator if you will).
There is no need to print a chute or a box. I looked at several models, decided none were worth the time or filament cost. Look around, you will probably find a collection solution in your trash.
