I looked for this topic and couldn’t find anything so I don’t know if it’s just me or not. I’ve been doing a couple of multicolor prints to let the new printer stretch its legs a bit, but I’ve been having trouble with the poop chute clogging (can we call it constipation yet?).
It seems like it gets stuck on the edge of the chute and then backs up. I looked online to see if there were any suggestions, and all I found was to use some aluminum tape on the chute itself or us some WD40 dry lubricant spray. I’m not a big fan of messing with the printer physically like that, but if that’s what it takes I’d do it.
Is anyone else having the same issue, and any suggestions on how to improve it?
Are you talking about the chute in the printer or a printed extension? Do you have photos? The chute goes past the rear panel so there isn’t a lip the poop can catch on… there is just a short flat landing but I can’t see that holding any poop. The chute seems to be made from polypropylene and I don’t think you would get significant friction reduction with lubricant.
(I happened to have been thinking about the poop hole for several hours today designing a poop chute…)
It WAS catching on the printer part itself…I do have a printed extension that sits in the back but that’s not where it was catching for me…it was before it made it out of the hole itself. Unfortunately I cleaned it out with my finger before I put the post in and it hasn’t happened again yet. I’m pretty sure it will so when it does I’ll snap another pic and post here.
Thanks for getting back so fast. I’ll post it as soon as it happens again. I’m going to hold off on doing anything to it (WD40 or aluminum tape) until i can get a pic out here and see what the thoughts are.
Have the same problem here. On mine there is a lip from the case that is higher than the chute, it gets caught on that… Sounds like @KYZ_Design has one where the chute goes over that lip?
I searched Makerworld for like a hour for something without lips and one that’s also fully enclosed and clears the ventilation holes completely, couldn’t find any so I’m making one. Here is the start of it (rest of the chute to come):
I just felt around back there (my printer is in a terrible spot to try to see the back of it without hefting 90 pounds of dead weight around!) and mine has that too…just a little lip that extends upwards. It does seem like that’s where it’s catching.
Could you make this adapt to 2" PVC please? I had that for my X1c which went into a bucket… male 2" is fine, as I have a female end to slip on it… thanks!
Here you go. Not a great pic but very awkward position to get back there.
From this it doesn’t look like it actually juts up…seem like it is flat. Might have just felt that way to me. But that does seem to be where the poop gets hung up.
That’s not part of my original problem…those are from a print i’m doing now and they do occasionally stick to the chute that I printed, which is understandable. The problem I’ve been having is that they get stuck on the bottom of the printer’s chute. It doesn’t happen all the time, which is why i couldn’t get a pic (wish i had gotten one before i cleared it out and started the thread here…next time I will make sure i do that).
Right now just regular old Bambu basic pla. Seems like it’s still pretty soft when it hits the chute so it hardens there a bit. I have that with my A1 too…sometimes sticks to the bucket. My X1C never seems to have that issue though.
I’ve had that happen on my H2D once. I was installing a printed chute and my hand brushed the back of the chute in the printer (not the printed chute) and a bunch of filament fell out. I assume something stuck on that small flat part of the printer lip and caught the filament. I was printing mostly black PETG HF so it was not noticeable.
