I have a fairly new (less than 1 month old) X1C that has just suddenly started printing very poorly. The firmware version is 01.07.05.00 latest version in studio.
At first, I thought that the filament was just wet, so I dried it in my filament dryer for 8 hours at 55 degrees C. No difference, still prints poorly. I see no issues with bed adhesion, it sticks great!
Then I tried printing the same STL file in my P1S, using the same roll of filament, and it printed perfectly. This to me, points to a problem with the X1 printer. Printing the Bambu Benchy produces a mushy, soft, stringy form of a benchy.
Tried several different rolls of filament that were printing good in my P1S, they all failed in the X1C. Ran system flow dynamics calibration from device page (tab at top left corner), and set filament value to amount shown in the flow dynamics calibration test. (0.06.000) No difference, 1st layer just prints garbage 1/2 way through 1st layer.
Can I select factory settings, in case I messed something up?
We need pictures to at least be able to guess what you are experiencing and some screenshots of settings to see what you are working with.
Plus, what filament are you using, the company, type, sub-type (if there is one) and colour?
For example
- Bambu Lab PLA Basic Red
- eSun PLA+ Green
- Bambu Lab PETG HF yellow
ok,
The filament is Elegoo, PLA, Tangerine, new
Screenshot of settings:
The product I am printing is a rack to hold my wife’s leather tools. I could give you the file name if you need it, from Thingaverse.
I have videos of the print in action, this one in particular shows the first layer printing, and you can see at time:3:23, the print begins to skip lines etc. at about the mid point.
It is pretty long, so I didn’t load it here, but if you want…I can.
As I said before, the same stl file, the same roll of filament the same settings in studio, prints perfectly on my P1S
Is it OK to reset the printer to factory settings from the screen?
Is there another updated firmware that is safe to download, even though Studio says that V01.07.05.00 is the latest?
A new update:
My prints were getting progressively worse, then all He-- broke loose. Warnings about cutter jammed, possible wet filament causing hot end and extruder clogs etc.
The X1 just stopped working altogether filament was just jammed tight. Was able to clear the nozzle, but could not retract filament from the print head. Jammed tight, but not in the AMS. Opened ticket with Bambu, they sent me Wiki pages to look at, to clear the extruder clogs. Had to completely remove the extruder from the print head and disassemble to remove giant filament clog. Re-assembled and ran calibration, and flow dynamics calibration, and all prints well now.
We are getting lots of rain, I think my issues are wet filament after all, as both printers were starting to get weird. RH in the AMS shot up to 39%, up from a normal of about 20+ %.
I still don’t know why the same roll of filament would work in the P1S but not the X1, unless the X1 is just more OCD. Anyway, thanks for the help, and I will close ticket with BBL. BTW, I did update X1 to V 01.08.02.00, and AMS toV 00.00.06.44
A moment on the lips, forever on the hips!
Filament and moisture is a bad thing especially as you get to the higher speed printers. I haven’t heard it but others say they can even hear wet filament as it crackles and pops from the water in it vaporizing and messing with extruder internal pressures.
Filament is happy to absorb water but doesn’t like to give it up so easy. That AMS humidity is way too high IMO. I’d recommend swapping out the desiccant. As filament sits in the AMS, if it was dryer than that humidity level, it will absorb water. If the AMS is more dry than the filament, it will sort of dry the filament but it takes an impractically long time. The desiccant really only keeps the filament dry (or at whatever moisture content) and keeps it from getting wetter.
Some good threads here on filament storage and drying.
WOW! a wrinkle in time! My calendar and computer clock say that today is the 20th, this forum says it is the 18th!
Looking at the sunlu S4 dryer…
