Post edit grace period has been changed

Is there any specific reason why the post edit grace period has been changed to a few days, rather than the default 2 months?

I think almost every Discourse forum I’ve been on ends up increasing this to facilitate longer term posts in sub-forums like #other-topics:community-guides .

As it is, I’ve created a post, expecting to be able to add to it later, and it’s already been locked for editing, which now makes it close to useless.

Please can we have it back to at least the default time period?

i think they lock it after 2 days to prevent chaning conversations or to adjust the posts later
ofcourse the guides is a differend section and maybe they can create a group or just adjust the settings on that specific topic only

but i do not think they will global change it

All this is going to do is create problems for everyone who expects things set up sensibly, and like other forums.

There’s a good reason why the default is 2 months.

I just ran into this as well, hoping to maintain an aggregation post where we keep the original post updated over time with contributions from the comments. Is there a solution for this at all, other than hosting the resource externally?

You could turn a post into a wiki, @JonRaymond probably has that power.

Weren’t the “regular” users able to do that at one time?

The higher your trust level the longer you have to edit posts. At “Member” I don’t think there is a limit.
