Posting Models on MakerWorld

I’ve noticed most of the models posted only have 1 (one) image and virtually no description other than what it is or what its supposed to do. Wouldn’t it be more beneficial to provide several images from different angles plus the model in actual use and a description that includes dimensions etc.? There’s a lot of things I would like to print but am reluctant to without ‘more information’ I don’t know how to make my own models and when I do learn, if I post anything here I personally would provide way more information than most of the posts I see here. Just an idea/tip/suggestion for us newbies out here and personally I don’t like to waste filament just to see if something ‘might’ work
Have a Great Day and Best Regards

Miles, as a designer, I agree. I don’t like it either when there’s only one image, or a render that doesn’t show the actual print. Doesn’t always give a lot of confidence.

Not sure the best way to encourage those points. I think Makerworld does a little bit, with their set criteria for what gets feature. So things that are better showcased are starting to flow to the top more.

Hang in there though. The platform is still newish, and we’re all working on making more cool things!

Really depends on the item. Today I posted some big chess pieces and only posted a single photo… because there really wasn’t a reason to post more than one. Other models generally have multiple angles because it’s needed.

I agree 100%. Big difference between something like this and this.

I try to make several photos too when needed , but not everytime . Only when needed. You can ask the designer to send you more pictures in comment . Good prints !

Yeahhh. I think that’s true. I have at least one design where only one image is required, really, because it’s that simple to present.

I’ve still got to work on getting my descriptions better.

Yeah same. I tend to subscribe to the Ron Swanson school of item descriptions. Just factual statements. I have a difficult time taking anything seriously when someone is trying to sell it too hard with cheesy marketing spiel. Conversely, quite a few people seem to go all in trying to convince me printing their model will make me a better person and improve my social life tremendously.

I tried to go this route with my Counter Cleaner. One picture of the item in use, a few pictures from various angles, a technical drawing with all dimensions and a description that sticks to factual things.

So far people really seem to like it, and I’m thinking about doing it this way for most of my models from now on.

Those pictures are perfect and I like how you added the technical drawing, that’s a nice touch.
