I have Sunlu E2 which goes up to 110*C. What are my best options for properly drying engineering filaments like PPA or PPS? Kitchen oven? Sunlu E2 or something else?
What is the filament usable on h2d that needs highest drying temperature? I am a bbuy once, cry once type a guy. What is my endgame option for filament drying? Yess i know i can get an electrical oven that goes to 2200*F (its on my list), that is not the question here.
Thanks
Go to goodwill and pick up an air fryer that is able to hold a spool in the bottom.
With properly regenerated desiccant and 85C you can dry the stuff just fine - it just takes a lot longer and you have to keep that RH low. Like, well below 10%.
That just takes a lot of good desiccant and it’s no problem. I’ve been actually having perfectly usable results with an 85C printdry unit that I have just been alternating big bags of microwave regenerated silica into every couple days.
Temperature control in cheap cooking appliances is not particularly exact, but it’s still a good idea. A good bakers oven will be accurate, but you can probably get a smaller laboratory oven for less money.
Probably PPS/PPA which are suppsoed to dry at 100+
Some people claim you can print PEI but I remain unconvinced.
your h2d’s heatbed can do up to 120 degrees, no need to buy anything
I already have sunlu E2, which goes to 110C, Print bed going to 20 probably won’t get filament up to 110. I was smart enough to have never purchased a wife, hence kitchen oven is accessible, but unlike Sunlu E2 it does not vent.
Not a snowball’s chance that will heat soak the entire roll properly.
How many days do you want to leave it?
