In Bambu Studio, we can export a preset bundle containing the print settings. However, this only includes the settings that I have modified. I would like to export all print settings for all profiles.
The goal is to export the print settings, which are also saved in a 3MF file. 3MF certainly doesn’t only save the changes made to an existing profile. The print settings must remain even if there’s an update; the settings in a print profile that I haven’t changed must not be overwritten.
Until the problem is solved in Bambu Studio, I will have to make do by changing every setting in the profiles that I want to export completely once.
OK, I think you want to be sure that future changes in the system presets don’t change the current print settings of a project.
I don’t think that simply exporting a bundle of system presets is going to provide that guarantee. Exporting modified User presets simply zips up the .json files containig the user modifications. Exporting the System presets in the same manner is possible by zipping up the corresponding .json files in the configuration folder, but using them again at a later date would require overwriting the newer files. Would you then restore the newer presets for the next project?
The real issue is the fact that all the presets are just changes and additions to other presets - they inherit values from other presets. There is no way to create a single file with all the settings.
Without a major restructuring of the way Studio stores the settings I think we have to trust Bambu to not modify the system presets. Yes, I know they did this a few months ago, changing fan settings to 100%, causing noise complaints and failed prints until corrected presets were issued.
No, that’s not my intention, I don’t think that settings will be overwritten as soon as the print parameters are saved somewhere. That would be a huge mistake and users would rightly complain about it.
There is an export function that can be useful for various users, which is simply limited to changes. However, it is no problem to add an if query in the programme and an option field in the user interface and to enable the output of all print parameters. A drop-down list where you could also select the profile directly or all profiles would be a logical extension, but I’m not asking for that much.
If you ever need the print settings in a text document, or if you want to save them in a database and there is no export function, you have to transfer all the parameters from the slicer by hand. This is time-consuming and, above all, error-prone.
