Does anyone know if there is a way to place the prime tower block on the edge of the build plate? Bambu Studio seems to have a 15 mm keep out zone around the entire edge of the plate. Maybe I’m missing a setting? I’m trying to make a square sign and maximize the use of the build plate.
There is no purge block. You can disable the prime tower - that may make the most sense for you. It can also be relocated. Prime tower | Bambu Lab Wiki
oops, I meant to say prime tower. I’ll edit my post.
Thanks!
Totally agree. This is critical.
Using Bambu Studio 2.03 I did following:
In the “prepare” tab position the prime tower anywhere; the prime tower shows the filament colors.
Click the “preview” tab for slicing the object, wait until ready.
Click “prepare” tab again and you will see the prime tower is grayed; now you can move the prime tower to the edge of the build plate and slice again.
(Do not move the object in the prepare tab again, the prime tower colors re-appear and moves away from the edge.)
Sounds like a silly workaround, but it worked for me.
Why is it not possible to place the prime tower right at the edge? Why not simply add the buffer zone as an adjustable setting?
A year later and still people have to rely on the hack mentioned above.
The picture below shows the limit of where the prime tower can be moved. The print uses only the left nozzle which makes it even more silly.
While not a solution to the issue, you can use auto arrange to quickly get ready to print.
Shift + A
It will move your model parts around the build plate for the theoretical best layout for the print mechanism while not overlapping your prime tower.
Be glad the older issue has gone, you 0lace it in the top edge, add a colour and it falls off the build plate.
That was so dumb as they clearly hadn’t tested their own software for something so obvious.
adding this in case someone hasn’t realized it yet - you can gain that edge back after slicing and then going back to Prepare once BS knows it’s actual size, the buffer area is because it’s size hasn’t been calculated yet in the prepare tab, once its sliced it ‘unlocks’ the edges, here’s how:
- Click Slice Plate (or Preview tab) and wait for slice (you have to wait for slicing to complete for the actual models on the plate)
- Click Prepare -
- The prime tower is now a more accurate size and movable to the extreme edges of the build plate, DO NOT move other models, moving other models may require starting over.
- Click Slice Plate (or Preview tab) again.
- Rejoice
