I have an A1 and just finished this print where I applied the following Fuzzy Skin settings:
Fuzzy Skin: Contour
Fuzzy skin point distance: 0.2 mm
Fuzzy skin thickness: 0.1 mm
All around my print I have strange artifacts that detract for the look I was hoping for. The filament used was Eryone Matte PLA (Ruby Red). They aren’t as easily seen as in the images unless you get them in the light at the right angle but they are definitely noticeable. Does anyone know what is causing these artifacts? And how can I reduce or eliminate them? Appreciate any guidance.
It’s the seam. You can try painting it on where you think it might hide it the best. Also, make sure you have auto flow dynamics on or calibrate it manually.
Just an update. After a lot or researching this issue (using ChatGPT which was incredibly helpful!) it appears the problem is where the seam position is set to. Due to the model geometry, Studio is apparently having difficulty determining where the outer wall seam should be placed. It is setting the inner wall seam properly on a vertical edge but semi randomly moves the outer wall seam around and that’s what’s causing the seemingly random semi vertical artifacts on the outer wall. It’s picking a proper vertical seam at some layers and that’s why the artifacts aren’t seen at some places. So the fix was to set the Seam Position to REAR instead of ALIGNED. For whatever reason, this allows Studio to properly determine a vertical edge and it places the seam properly (see images). If this didn’t work then the next step would have been to switch to painted seams and paint a vertical edge to ensure it gets placed properly (note when painting seams, that only affects the position of the OUTER wall seam the INNER wall seam won’t be affected by the painted seam position).
Also, setting “Order of walls” in the Advanced section of the Quality tab to Outer/Inner helps to ensure the outer (visible) walls are as clean as possible.
Re-print showing inner & outer wall seams aligned properly on the rear vertical edge. No random artifacts being shown anywhere on the model, great improvement!
