Print crumbles between raft and part

This part actually just has a support structure that is very similar to a raft. This is PETG support and PETG part. Support lays down great for 15 or so layers. Then, the filament just stops sticking. I’m using tree supports. I rarely change from the default settings and haven’t deviated from them this time either. Any ideas what could be causing this? This is the second part failure and I re-sliced between attempts. I did do an update prior to this issue.

Double check that you are slicing for the correct PETG filament. This will happen if you have PETG Basic loaded and slice for PETG HF.

Well, I got excited for a second until I looked and all of the filaments are correct in Bambu Labs. I’m using PETG HF from Bambu, so it’s reading the info off the spool.

Wish I could slow the video down more. It goes by so fast you can’t see what’s happening. I’d say it might be moisture, but I’ve dried everything and tried it with different filaments from 2 different AMS’s, so I don’t think it’s that.

Nobody else has run into this?

Well, you’re not crazy. With default tree support settings, this is what I get

Layer 8, with a big cavernous void in the middle.

Layer 9, it starts trying to make a support trunk just hung in midair for no reason

Fast forward a couple, layer 13

yeah idk, those lines printed into midair have no hoppe of working, but its what the slicer designed. Seems a bug in the base software [present in orcaslicer too]

I would suggest you use “normal” supports for this anyways, this support strategy works much better with large flat surfaces like your design is.

Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it. I am going to try the normal supports especially since it won’t matter on this part. I contemplated doing normal supports from the beginning but I don’t like it when the software tries to dictate what I do. I’m a bit hard-headed that way. I wonder if putting the part at an angle will change anything. I might try that as well.
