Print/Filament Profiles

Hi All, Newbie here so please bear with me with the possible silly question.

If I have found a print which comes out perfect, and then I find something similar but prints like a bag of poo. Is there anyway I can use the profiles from the good one, and see if it works on the print which was a bag of poo.

I hope you understand what I am asking, being a bit of a old Fart (61) most of this is new to me.

Hi, Fred - when you say you found a print, I am assuming you mean one of the online models in Maker World - I have not used any of those models but I think they come with Quality, Strength , Speed and Support settings - you would have to check all the values from the print that works to see if they are different to the print that poops.
Although, if the settings are different, they are probably different for a reason.
I would hope that any models in Maker World have been vetted for usability and quality - but who knows.

Hi Fred,

In my experience, there are very, very few truly silly questions. Answers can be a bit silly though…

You can open a print profile from MakerWorld, delete all the parts in Bambu Studio and then add the parts from another model that you have downloaded as “Geometry only”. You may be asked if you want to revert settings, but you can choose to just keep them.

As to wether or not that will give you a good print, I can answer with a decisive, definite an slightly silly: Maybe!

Print Profiles are quite specific. Using a print profile for a very complex part with fine detail and overhangs on a simple cube for example is likely to get you a good print. It may take forever though.
Inversely, using a print profile for a simple, high speed cube print is probably not going to help much for an intricate miniature with large overhangs.

So to get started, printing from MakerWorld and having a look at the print settings that differ from the defaults in the Slicer is a good way to start to understand what changes lead to what kind of problems and solutions. Browsing the forum (as you are doing) while the printer is busy is also a good way to gain a deeper insight. In particular once you stray away from basic PLA prints.

And finally, this is also a good place to post questions on specific print settings and troubleshooting. Do not hesitate to post pic’s and settings of troublesome prints, even if they do look like

Happy printing,
Eno

Hi, Thank You for such a excellent explanation as to what I need to do. Jumping from a Ender 3, to a A1 is a whole new world and has opened lots of ideas/projects to do in my spare time.

One again many, many thanks for the help and advice, I owe you a pint.

Hi, guys! I really don’t understand, maybe I am stupid, but how can it be, that there are no Printing settings for Bambu filaments in the BambuStudio? Everyone is searching for the appropriate settings? It’s ridiculous. Manufacturer is not providing with the print settings for it’s own materials?
