I am new to 3D printer and have a A1 mini. All 3 of my first attempts have failed when the print head knocks over the print. The PETG, blue, then black, then finally the red print failed. Based on posts elsewhere, I tried the third print at 50% speed. I have the textured PEI plate that came with the printer. The picture shows that I have success until I don’t. If I can provide additional settings, please let me know.
You may be over-extruding, either because the filament isn’t tuned optimally, or because it needs to be dried.
Over-extruded PETG tends to build up on the nozzle, until at some point it gets wiped off as a layer is being printed. That leaves a blob on the top of your print. Then the printhead comes around on the next layer and that blob has cooled off and is solid as a rock. Nozzle hits it and pops the print off the build plate.
These 4 things are all the same PETG. The incomplete print on the left was knocked over by the printhead. If you zoom in, you can see the booger that was deposited from buildup on the nozzle. The three that printed OK were printed after manually calibrating the filament.
From what I can see, this may be the problem. At least with the read and blue prints. Can’t really see enough detail in the black print to be sure.
Try disabling “reduce infill retraction” under the others tab.
Also, your heat bed cable is getting smashed into the wall. Might want to move the printer forward a little.
I’ve been able to get two successful prints after manually calibrating the filament. I’ve also moved the printer forward so the cable doesn’t hit the wall. If I run into any more problems I’ll also try the “reduce infill retraction” suggestion. Thanks for some quick and accurate responses.
