Print head makes harsh grinding sound during bed leveling

My P1P suddenly has problems moving the print head. During bed leveling, the head makes a weird sound when it reaches the right end of the build plate, then it does a abnormal move forward, and then it moves all the way to the other side, again making a weird sound and moving the head a bit forward, which is also abnormal.

Here is a video that shows the problem: IMG_5939.mp4 - Google Drive

I tried run the calibration from the settings menu, and the same sounds occurred during calibration.

Does anyone have any idea what’s going on? Would greatly appreciate it.

That sounds terrible. I think that something somewhere is loose. Have you checked all the axis rods and everything attached to the print head?

Also make sure the belts are tight.

Clean the Carbon rods. As they “dirty up”, the bearing will start to “chatter”, which will negatively effect your print quality and also make a terrible sound. I think the head movements are because the printer senses motor current to determine how hard it’s pushing the printhead with the steppers and the bearing friction is high enough to fool it in to thinking it’s hitting something.
