Did you dry the PETG before printing?

Hi Jon
It was streight out the vacuum bag.

Straight out of the vacuum bag doesn’t mean it’s dry. It’s been shown time and time again that spools are not packaged dry. Weight the spool before drying and then after drying and you will see how much water was shipped with it.

So far, Every time I get a new spool, I weigh it and then dry it and weigh a few more times as it’s drying. I keep on drying until the weight stops going down.

I have dried maybe 40 spools by now and only 3 were completely dry and lost no water. All others lost 2 or more grams of water. Some had 6-9 grams of water.

Those are good data points!

One more thing, I almost always have to dry the filament longer than the recommended time to lose all the water weight. Some filament took almost 24 hours to completely dry.

I have two SUNLU Filadryer S2 to dry my filament.

I have posted it several times in the past - if you use Bambu Labs PETG just ramp up the temperature for “other layers” to 270°C (yes… really that high). Since I did this change I never had any issue with that filament anymore. If I stay lower it starts to crumble like on your picture.
