On the ‘Device’ tab while printing and the camera off, it would be awesome to view the project as it is displayed on the ‘Preview’ tab except at the active print layer, and all completed layers in the location where the camera view would be.
I don’t run with the camera on and when I am on the ‘Device’ tab to see how much time is left I have a huge black box taking up most of the screen and I really find that takes away from the look of the tab.
Slic3r does this and it’s really cool. You see the graphic (like the ‘Preview’ tab we have) and can watch the graphic of the printhead move around and grow the print. It’s more than just eye-candy. It’s really helpful to see the spot what a troublesome print fails or some other issue.
In general, I think the dashboard layouts of the various tabs should be configurable (add windows/views, size, …). But Very Great is to include a section in Device to show the current slice view as in Preview tab. We get the slice# and total- but going to another tab and then finding it with the slider bar is cumbersome.
