Print profile works for me, but not another user?

I was always too busy with my own models. I relied on the fact that if Bambulab added other printers to my X1C print profiles, they would also be printable on the other printers. But apparently this is not the case at all. I am now starting to rename my print profiles to “X1/ X1C / P1 / P1S” and exclude printers. However, I cannot prevent the print profile from being automatically reset when the user selects a different printer in Bambu Studio. What happens here when printing via the smartphone app, are the original profiles also replaced by the default profiles? Profiles that worked well before new printers were released and had an average rating of 4.8 to 5.0 are increasingly dropping to 4.5 or less. Crazy, isn’t it? I just don’t have the time to keep looking at it all and chasing after it. What do people who have hundreds of models and profiles do?

Some time ago, I asked myself whether it wouldn’t make sense to only upload STLs. So that the reputation of the designer does not suffer with regard to the print settings. Because you know, I’m still trying to convince users of good print settings and, as a result, of very well printed models. Some of my model descriptions are like a printing wiki. And then something like this?

I adjust print profiles for printing with the specific printer I’m using (what else?). These settings are crucial for successful prints. However, after saving everything and changing the printer in BambuStudio, my custom settings become inaccessible and are simply replaced by the default profiles for the newly selected printer. All settings of the main print profile for the model are lost when using a different printer, as if they never existed.

It doesn’t even matter anymore whether an X1E, P1S, or P1 can use the designer’s print profile, as it will be removed anyway as soon as the printer is changed.

Therefore, it is essential that BambuLab only allows ratings for a designer’s print profile if it has actually been used. If a different printer is used than the original one, no rating should be possible anymore. This is the logical consequence of the change in BambuStudio.

The problem is even deeper. Some models on the Makerworld platform no longer fulfill the function they were intended for when the printer is changed (e.g., calibration tools for which the designer’s print profile is indispensable).

Does this mean that we are no longer supposed to make any print settings, because when using a different printer, the default settings for that printer will be used anyway?

To follow the suggestion of selecting a different printer to create a print profile for it, I have to extract all my settings from the print profile and transfer them to the respective printer, i.e., enter them there again.
We are supposed to confirm that the print profiles have also been tested by us. This means we have to own all printers and make fine adjustments on each printer again, including multiple test prints.
This idea, which many users on Makerworld once saw as an advantage, that you can simply select a print profile and print it on any BambuLab printer, has thus been reduced to absurdity. It no longer exists. And even worse: the ratings no longer have any significance. And on top of that: painstakingly configured print profiles are called into question and thus appear potentially undesirable.

How do we ensure that models can win competitions if we know that they cannot be printed on all printers, that the desired print result cannot be achieved?

Not really, when the 3MF is loaded as X1 in BS I change it to A1 Mini…it will ask if I want to use the modified presets or not. I always say Yes just to look at them. If nothing is too critical, I will use mine. If you print using Handy…I haven’t done it in awhile…you can only change filament & plate.

This is interesting because I have never been faced with the kind of question you describe before.

You’ve most likely had, just selected “remember my choice” on the popup that asks about that. Go to Preferences and under “presets” and “project” click “Clear” button next to “Clear my choice on the unsaved presets/project”

That will make the popup window popup again.

You can check it to never have it ask again.

Thank you first of all for your help!

First of all:

You’ve most likely had, just selected “remember my choice” on the popup that asks about that. Go to Preferences and under “presets” and “project” click “Clear” button next to “Clear my choice on the unsaved presets/project”

If I do this, nothing changes for me in the procedure described below. No pop-up appears to indicate whether I want to keep my customised preset or whether it should be replaced by a standard preset.

I also don’t know where I should tick or untick here:

After sleeping on it again…

Select the print settings again:

I can save my changes to the print profile under the so-called “presets”, i.e. things like layer height, accelerations and speeds. However, I was a bit tired yesterday, it seems. This morning I went through it again and remembered that the presets are linked to the printer models. With this in mind, it is understandable that the presets that I have saved under an X1 Carbon disappear when I select an A1 printer and are therefore no longer accessible here. This process in itself is annoying for me. Because if I only change the printer, I don’t change the user-defined presets. The fact that the printer-specific presets disappear is still OK, but the user-defined presets should remain in the selection. Or my user-defined “preset” generally remains and is also selected when I change the printer and is not replaced by a standard “preset”.

Click the buttons marked in red here:

Make sure to restart BambuStudio.

I think we might mean different things. When I click on the buttons, nothing happens. No hint, nothing. Nothing has changed in the behaviour when changing the profiles either. No hint here either, no question.

Worked for me… Might want to try backing up your config and start fresh to see change. Looking at the code it seems that the option is misspelled, uses choise instead of choice so if fresh setup would work then it’ll be question of migrating your settings.

I think it might be because you don’t actually have an A1 Mini…so nothing would change. BS can’t connect to it…but that is just a guess.
