Print shifting while changing colors

Hi guys ,
I’m finding that things are shifting one when the printer changes colours or if the filaments runs out … Any ideas on this?
Can the belts be too tight?

My guess is that there is something limiting the travel/causing the printer to loose position when changing filament. Check to make sure that you have full travel in all corners, specifically the front ones. Remove all “Mods” such a PTFE guides, dust covers etc as these can often cause homing issues. Make sure the PTFE tube to the head is long enough so the printer access both front corners. Make sure there isn’t any hidden “poops” limited the travel.

If that was the case I think that the shift would always be in the same direction Everytime.
I printed 2 of the same object and both times the shift was in 2 completely different directions.

I was watching while it extrudes the old filament and the head slightly shifts to the right… I wonder if the belts are too tight

I can not clearly identify the shift on the lower image. But the first image seems to indicate a shift accumulating over several layers rather than being a single large shift.

That can result from the nozzle hitting an obstacle such as a curling edge (did you dry the white filament? Filament Drying Recommendations | Bambu Lab Wiki) or easily avoidavle speed bumps from crossing infill (use Gyroid, Honeycomb, Monotonic). Especially if belts are too loose. Such shifts changing direction for different models or even slices also indicate a print specific root cause like curling.

Adjusting the belts is really quick and easy. And a good opportunity to clean the carbon rods.

But be careful not to hit curling or speed bumps too quickly. At these speeds, that can bend a nozzle.

Print shifting during color changes can often be due to loose or overly tight belts, misaligned pulleys, or inconsistencies in filament loading. Checking belt tension and ensuring proper calibration might help. I had a similar issue while working on a project related to Argan Kuwait, and adjusting the tension made a big difference. Hope this helps!

I believe the belts were over tight
