Hi, I have some large prints, but whenever I get an estimate for a 0.8mm nozzle I only get minutes difference between a 0.4mm nozzle (in a 6 hour print). Is there something I am missing?
Thanks,
Darren

Because it’s a bigger nozzle it would uave to print slower, the filament can only melt so fast and your doing thicker layers(stronger layers). Maybe some one more technical can explain it better.
I believe it’s a hardware issue. The heatbreak and heater (melting zone) would need to be much longer to be able to melt the filament quick enough to print at the same flow rates that it can with the smaller nozzles. You get the same with the 0.6 nozzle, on some prints it’s quicker with a 0.4 and at a finer resolution.
Ah ok, that’s a shame, but understood.
Cheers all.
Whilst for single colour prints with the current BL nozzle there isn’t a big saving when you move up nozzle sizes, you will get good advantages though if you do multi colour prints - as larger nozzles allow thicker layers - and therefore less layers - and therefore colour changes needed.
