Printer continuing to "print" but no filament coming out

Hi there,

I’ve been printing with Bambu PLA-CF and had a couple of “failures” although printer reported it successfully completed.

Essentially the filament gets stuck or nozzle is clogged (which I realise is more common for pla-cf) but the printer continues to think it’s still printing and buzzes around until it thinks its done.

Why does the printer not error and stop as it normally does?

Thanks

Because it doesn’t know that it’s not printing anymore: The camera only checks for spaghetti or a pileup in the poop chute, and the filament sensor only checks that there’s still filament in there (i.e. it doesn’t check that the filament is moving along).

For CF-infused filaments (and also for wood and marble filaments), I’d recommend switching to a hardened 0.6mm nozzle.

Ah ok. I’d have thought there could be a sensor to check filament is still moving along!

I did swap across to using hardened extruder and nozzle, but only on 0.4mm. I did also buy a 0.6mm, so will use that in future when doing pla-cf.

As long as there is filament at the sensor on top of the extruder the printer “thinks” all is ok.
The P1S had no detection for spaghetti or even clogging.
Sometimes the extruder is full of dust or some filamentgrain. The nozzle also can be worn out.
In that case just change the nozzle and print out a small model like a benchy.
If it came out in good quality i guess the nozzle cused the problem.
If the replaced nozzle doesn’t make a difference go take the extruder apart and check the metal parts inside the extruder.

Some abrasive filament will worn out the extruder and the gears won’t grip and transport the filament proberly.
If the little gears are full of some filamentdust and dirt just gram a brass brush and clean the gears. Maybe some isopropanol will help.

For me this worked fine…

(please excuse my english, not my native language  )

I find out that my extruder gears are worn out…
For my taste a way to fast - only around 250 printinghours with PLA…
