This is exactly what has happened to me today. It has rebooted while still printing. I’m wondering how long it will take for them to fix it.
We have recently received several reports of printers experiencing black screen / restarts during printing. After thorough analysis, we have identified that the issue stems from a recent auto-update to our cloud service’s certificate, which leads to possible printer reboots.
A certificate is a security measure that allows for encrypted SSL communication between the Cloud Servers and the 3D Printer. Similar certificates are used for websites, to provide a secure encrypted connection between the Computer and the Website Server.
Our cloud service adheres to a security policy of automatically updating certificates every three months. This is a standard practice to ensure high security.
According to this policy, the certificate was updated on June 24th, 07:36 UTC.
At this time, some users began reporting issues shortly after this update for printers from the P1 and A1 Series.
Due to a small bug in the firmware of the P1 and A1 series, the certificate verification process on the printer side did not work as expected which caused the firmware to crash during use and reboot the printer.
The X1 Series remains unaffected, as it uses a different firmware base and does not suffer from this bug.
As a quick solution: The certificate known to cause issues has been replaced with an updated certificate with a different algorythm, from a different Certification Authority. As of June 27th, 06:00 UTC, our cloud service now runs on the new certificate.
As a longer-term fundamental solution: We are in the process of optimizing the certificate processing method for the P1 and A1 Series in the firmware, to avoid similar issues in the future. The updated firmware addressing this issue is currently undergoing internal testing, and will be released to the public following thorough quality evaluation.
No other action is required from users to solve the issue, as this has been a server side change. The printer can be used with confidence again.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and appreciate your patience as we work to completely resolve this matter promptly.
Should you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our customer support team.
Thank you for your understanding.

Thanks for a detailed explanation! We really appreciate it! Thanks again.
Thanks for the rapid response! The support on this topic was quick and I’m back up and running without any issues. Thanks!
That doesn’t make any sense. Why does it need a certificate while printing? I mean the printer already downloaded everything, from that moment it can continue local. That video doesn’t work or connecting to the printer doesn’t work from that moment ok, but not while printing.
Maybe the printer is reporting current printing status to Bambu cloud continuously?
Why would a cloud issue have affected printers in “lan only mode”? Isn’t the purpose of that to.keep out of the cloud? Users said that even lan only printers were crashing.
Thank you! We appreciate the timelya d detailed response.
I second what others here has said. It happened to me in Lan mode. If it truly was the error mentioned above, it makes me question the validity of this mode.
Plus, this happening in cloud mode, does this mean that losing connectivity during a print will cause errors?
The certificate they are likely talking about, seems to be like the one used by websites with https (so nobody can forge communication as a man in the middle).
My guess is that the lan-only mode still does some web requests against their API like checking for new firmware updates? These could then trigger the bug? But no clue, for one to be certain, you would have to either reverse engineer their firmware or record the web requests your printer does.
Well, you need to check the printer status realtime updated on the mobile or WAN app, dont you? It needs an encrypted conexion for security reasons wich uses an SSL certificate
That’s the reason why worked well on LAN mode, with only works in your local network with no security involved
Yes, that could be true, but it should not interfere with the printing process. They should have created an asynchronous module to run separately, allowing it to blink without waiting. I believe what’s happening is that the system is trying to send progress information to the Bambulab server, but the certificate is no longer valid and cannot be validated. After a certain period, it times out and then returns to the code that executes the print.
I think this is the most important point.
Nothing else than print related issues should bring the print down. Network issues, certificate issues, cloud issues, whatever else externally should not stop the print from continuing.
Wow that Totally happened to my P1S, being a bambu newb i didn’t honestly think much of it as i just restarted the machine and it hadn’t done it since.
Thanks for that. Thanks for support.
My p1s (bought 10 days ago) is dead mid print with black screen. No way to power it up again. Thanks.
Mine is just stopping and staying stopped. No restarting the printing after a few seconds.Tried power cycling, but generally it’s printing a little more than a half hour or hour before just stopping, lowering the bed about 10cm and then just doing nothing - as if it had been cancelled mid-print.
Create a ticket and add to log files too.and wait for support. Some days ago i hawe the same problems now printer works fine. I have disconect printer from wifi an use now just a SD card for printing. Till Bambu lab fix a certifaces.
The printer not start, screen black and no wifi. Impossible take the log. Ticket opened
Remowe SD card put in card reader and you can find log files. You can take log files also from pc. C:\Users\user name\AppData\Roaming\BambuStudio\log
