For some reason if I load filament from the external spool, my X1C still thinks it should try to use the AMS. It will do the startup just fine, even print the purge lines along the perimeter, but when it comes to the actual print, it gives me
Please pull out the filament on the spool holder from the extruder or check if there is filament broken in the extruder, if AMS is to be used later, please connect PTFE tube to the coupler and click the “retry” button. [07FF 8003]
Before I print I uncheck the Enable AMS option. I’ve checked for clogs, etc, and I can print with the AMS just fine, but sometimes I have filament I don’t want to send through the AMS, so I’d like to get this working again.
I’ve also tried unplugging the AMS but then it gives me an error when it tries to print.
FWIW I got that exact message when I forgot to uncheck “Use AMS” in the slicer upon sending the print. I’ve also been able to just unplug the AMS’s and plug them back without restarting printer. Are you running latest firmwares?
BTW does the slicer’s idea of what type/color is loaded from ext. spool match the filament for the print?
Nope, made sure I unchecked that and have tried multiple times. I’ve tried unplugging the AMS and restarting the X1C as well and it gives me that second error.
Everything works fine with the AMS, just doesn’t want to print from the external spool holder.
Oh and sorry, to answer your last question, yes. I added it in the Device section and then selected the exact filament option in the print settings for that spool.
The printer issues this message for the purpose of making sure that the plastic is being squeezed out of the extruder and confirming this. It’s not a mistake. If you do not confirm, the printer will try to load the filament into the extruder again
Regarding that error, I think you’re thinking of the one when you load the filament. This one occurs after I’ve started the print, and it has ALREADY printed the purge lines along the edges of the build plate. For some reason after it does that, it think it needs to change filament and is issuing that message. I confirmed this yesterday by pulling the filament out after receiving that message and it started loading a filament from the AMS, even though I unchecked “Enable AMS” and made sure that the filament I had selected when choosing to print was the external spool holder filament.
I’ll give it another shot later today or tomorrow and see if I can get a video of the issue.
I have the same problem. The only way I can work around it is to delete all but 1 color from the filament list. I should not have to do that. I am only printing a single color from the external spool. I like to define projects that may include several colors for different plates, but when I do I cannot get the print to go successfully from the external spool.
