The P1S is loud! My family cannot stand it running during the day and I don’t blame them. Before I start building a fully sound insulated cabinet for the thing, I wanted to know if this machine can operate in a hot (122F, 50C) garage. Yay, Florida! Are the electronics rated to such high temps? From what I know, stepper motors can run very hot and should be ok in hot environments.
Yes. The X1c Runs 50C inside all day long.
Printer should be ok but overhangs in PLA will suffer. I typically notice it starting around high 30C’s.If you want it quieter, you could run it in silent mode. Running this on the cool plate at 35C bed temp with the top open and aux fan off will make a big difference in noise level.
Get a standing AC unit if you can. I’m in Socal and thankfully the previous owners of the house put a wall unit in the garage since it was theirs kids playroom. I’ve upgraded the unit and can keep the garage (with no insulation) around 80* when it’s 100 out and between 83-85 when it hits 110.
quiet mode is not a suitable substitute for a proper printer profile. When you print at different feed rates on the printer it messes with retraction quality and travel speeds.
Free standing AC units are a horrendous waste of electricity. If your face is not directly in front of them they are garbage. One of the most wasteful inventions of the century. They literally suck hot air back into the room by design.
If the garage really hits 50C then use slower print speeds or print overnight if the print has sensitive overhangs.
Lol, You do realize that you need to exhaust the hot air expelled outside right? Otherwise yes they will recirculate the air. I agree while not the most economical solution, they would help.
The thing I think is funny is how some people are like these things are loud lol like a damn jet liner is flying over.
They aren’t that loud, yes there is fan noise but you know what be glad they make noise you know they are running.
