Printing non-Bambu PETG on the A1

Hello, first time on the forum and it’s not for something good…

I’ve got an A1 Combo and just started. For now, i ve been using PLA, so far so good but I wanted to try PETG using some generic PETG (freshly opened spool, not Bambu).

Prints have been mostly okay, but a couple of things are bothering me:

On the purge lines the printer does before starting the actual part, I was getting some bubbles, especially at the start of both lines. In the last test I didn’t really see any bubbles in the purge or the poop, so maybe it was just a one-off.

And on a circular section of the part the seam looks weird. It feels like it’s hitting a little blob and there’s a small hole right there, even though each new layer seems to cover it up.

I’ve already tried lowering the nozzle temp to 240-245, using the Generic PETG profile, setting seam position to Aligned, and enabling Scarf (Contour, overriding the filament setting, Scarf around entire wall off, 10 steps). The seam issue on the round parts is still there though.

Has anyone seen something similar with non-Bambu PETG on the A1? Any tips for the seam or speed that might help?

Thankss!

If your getting bubbles in the purge line your filament is wet. You need make sure to dry it very good before you print. Your probably getting some popping sounds once in a while. PETG is very sensitive to moisture. I never print PETG out of the package before drying from any brand. Results are all over the place.

This is correct.

If filament can absorb moisture, there’s no reason to assume the plastic bag filament comes in can’t absorb moisture.
