Printing PLA CF with stainless nozzle

Noob here. I just got my P1P up and running and love it! I was wondering if it’s ok to print PLA CF with the .4 stainless nozzel? I know CF material is abrasive but how abrasive? Can I get away with printing a half spool? A whole spool before it wears out? Or do I need to just wait untill I get a hardened nozzle?

More experienced people here will offer their advice. For my two cents, everything I have watched and read says that stainless steel should last for at least a half a spool, if not an entire spool.

Carbon is one of the more abrasive materials. On the P1P the problem is not only the nozzle, but also the extruder gears which are not prepared for abrasive materials and should be switched out before you use CF or GF filaments.

They will not break at once on using them, but the wear on the parts will be substantial and they will break sooner rather then later. A stainless steel nozzle I have not tried, but brass nozzles do not even last a single spool of filament. So I would assume a stainless steel one would wear down within a couple of spools as it is quite a bit more wear resistant then brass.

I highly recommend to get a hardened nozzle and a hardened extruder gear and upgrade the printer with them before you start using CF or GF.

Thanks for the heads up!

would this also go for the p1s?

how do I upgrade the printer after I changed the nozzle and extruder gears?
