Hello! I have a P1S that I bought brand new a year ago and I am suddenly having a print issue and I have no idea why. I am not very technical with the 3D print world so forgive me if I don’t have the right terminology!
I have a P1S with an AMS and am using the stock 0.4 nozzle with Bambu PLA. I recently printed some disscent boxes for the AMS and filled them with silica to get my humidity down to a 1. It has been at a 3 for the majority of my time with it. Since doing that, I have tried printing something 2 times now and both times I am getting sections of the print that the layers are loose/stringy or just completely weird. I’ve changed no other settings, parts, etc. on the printer. The only thing I can think of is…can filament be too dry?
The top part can’t be printed without supports. Bridging is not possible in this area, there is no contact face. So bridging parameter doesn’t play a role here. My guess is your problem is support related only. The other layers look very consistent! Could you upload a screenshot of the sliced part from Bambu Studio?
After a year, I would also replace the thermal grease for your nozzle/hotend. It may have dried out, causing poor heat transfer, so that your nozzle temperature could be incorrect.
Yea, the rest of the print is great! It’s just these 2 bits, well and the top inside of the tube bit is a little wonky too but not to the degree the others are.
Here are a couple pics of the sliced part. The supports all print fine so it’s weird that the part being supported did not. The 3 areas circled are not printing right.
Check your support settings. I’ve had this happen before when the “On build plate Only” box is checked. Basically, this setting doesn’t allow supports to be generated within the part. You should definitely have supports on the ‘roof’ section, and within the tube.
I didn’t have that box checked, but I did have “Critical Regions Only” checked so I can uncheck that. I also had “Slow down for overhangs” unchecked, should I check that one too?
I would note I had another piece of this print have the same issue, but it was on the part that was sitting flat on the build plate itself. No supports involved there.
I will typically have the slow down for overhangs checked, seems to decrease the issues you’re seeing.
I would definitely try the “Critical Regions Only” check mark and re-slice your plate. You’ll know if that was the change you needed when supports for those areas generate.
They did generate so I am trying the print now to see if that solves it. I also told it to slow down on overhangs. Will report back later this evening with results!
The print finished and while the strings aren’t as bad on two of the sections, they are still there and the interior 3rd section is worse I think. The rest of the print is perfect as evidenced in the 5th picture below. It’s these sections where the supports are that are bad. I saw someone earlier say that perhaps the new update is causing issues? Is it worth reverting back? (assuming I can find a version from last week somewhere)
Hi
I guess you can try to revert to a previous version. That’s I’ll do after facing again issues with supports management.
You can find all versions here
I’ll reinstall version 1.10.02.76 that was working perfectly
Cheers
JC
Update: I reverted back to the prior version of Bambu Studio and re-printed. It came out much much better. I’ll be sticking with the old version for now as it seems there are some kinks to work out on the support generation of the newest release.
